Hey guys,
In addition to the small post-heresy chaos warband I'm going to put together (not sure what legion yet), I'd really like to put together a pre-heresy traitor legion list.
Not completely sure what legion I should do or what rule book I should take it from???
Maybe pre-heresy world eaters or something??
Thoughts / ideas people?

Well I'd say Night Lords but that's because I love their fluff.
Basically go read all of the legions fluff, and pick the one you like the most.

Besides the actual legion... What rules set should I be using??? Main reason for asking is that being pre-heresy, they wont be so mutated... so would a chaos list still work?

Well honesty it's your call. For example, since techinically the legions were loyalist, you could run a space marine list, but at the same time if you feel like running a chaos list, you could do that instead.

I would use the extreme ends of the Space Marine codexes. You may have to miss out some of the 'best' choices in the codex, but that's one of the sacrifices you make when you want to represent a whole legion in 2000 points! As an example, for the World Eaters you were thinking of, I would consider a Death Company heavy Blood Angel list. Steer clear of psykers, which is a pity, but go hard on the close assault troops. I would look at a company called Anvil Industry who make some useful bits, too, particularly their chain glaives.

Or you can just use the chaos codex as is if you want to do world eaters. Just make them 'zerkers for the sake of simplicity. Probably without special characters, just a lord with mark of khorne.
What mark of forge world armour are you buying? I like the look of the Mk 3 the most, but the rest aren't bad.

That's actually impossible. You can't have a pre-heresy, traitor army, because before the heresy, they weren't traitors But I've seen Thousand Sons done very well using the Grey Knights book.
