So in 6th you can confer the outflank rule to other models in the unit. So anyone used penal/stormtroopers with lord commissars or priests yet?
I'm thinking of doing this for fun soon, might be useful.

Unfortunately, you can't Join an IC without the Infiltrate Rule to a Unit that has it during Deployment. It's on pg.38, the last paragraph of the Infiltrate Rule.
So an IC with Infiltrate can confer it to a Squad, but not the other way 'round.

Yep that's right, but I'm talking about using the scout rule which also confers outflank. And outflank is conferred to all other models in the unit.

OK, yeah, it would work with Reconnaissance Storm Troopers or Penal Legion, then.
Still doesn't seem like a great idea. You can't Charge on the Turn you come in from Reserves, and none of the ICs we have available really help much with the shooting. You're also limited to fairly fragile Units, and by adding an IC, all you're really doing is handing the Squad a sign that says "Shoot us to death while we're sitting here waiting to Charge!"

It could possibly add a bit of extra resilience to a storm trooper unit in a chimera which outflanks, maybe to hit soft targets at the rear of your opponents deployment. Maybe contesting an objective, and assaulting small units after an initial firefight once disembarked.
Priest and an LC could add extra CC ability in terms of melta bombs and evisarator, I know it's probably pricey and not very effective, but could have its uses.
I really like penal legion, and with a priest in the unit this could add extra punch to them. Again they could hassle back line objective holders or vehicles, and potentially grab board edge objectives. Just a thought.
