Hi,
I am not a great fan of Twin Link rules, I liked the old (old old) rules where you just got an extra shot.. anyway...
I noticed that in most configurations with Imperial flyers you can have pair of rocket pods counting as 2 separate weapons firing at the same target OR a twin linked gun in the same set of mountings, I figure this is for game / points balance but I'm not convinced its correct.
anyone else share this opinion?

Can you even twin link blast shots?

Can you even twin link blast shots? Yeah, but you have to re-roll both the scatter and the distance dice. Back to the original point, I used the MRP all the time in 5th Ed, but IMHO I think the Vendetta is far more usefull now. Maybe if I was playing a full horde army (Orks, Nids etc) then the MRP would be useful...maybe Danger Rod

Because GW says so. Which is pretty much the basis of 40K.
Those looking for logic or balance should seek elsewhere.

Twin Linked Blast used to mean any hits caused to models under the blast would could be re-rolled.
Vendetta have become very popular among guard and hated by all opponents of guard...
to be honest, my thinking here is really about the vulture and the punisher cannons, they cost a fair bit and while they look fantastic it strikes me strange they aren't separate weapons since they take 2 gun mountings each.
and yes.. GW says so, but I'm not disputing that the rules are the rules, I'm asking if anyone feels the same.

From what I've heard the punisher cannon is fairly ok on the vulture because it is twin-linked. I'm guessing two punisher cannons would be OP.

The Vulture also gets Strafing Run USR which bumps its to BS4!
Added to that the twin linked Punisher Cannons and its unbelievably good at killing hordes

Flyers also ignore cover... so there's an additional buff.
But compare it to 4 rocket pods, against hordes these are going to put a out lot of wounds with models getting hit several times. Interestingly these two load outs (4 pod / 2 punisher) are the same cost.
Math-hammer is very hard with blasts vs direct fire so I won't attempt it.
The BS 4 probably helps the punisher more though, and I guess with TL nearly all 20 will hit, factor in no cover.. ouch.

Correction.. flyers do not ignore cover... my mistake.. though in the last game I played they had this ruling for some reason...
I think we thought that due to a flyers height they could ignore cover. - but that may be an old apocalypse rule or some other confusion...
either way it effected both sides flyers equally during the game but I cannot find any reference to this in the book.

They do not ignore cover, but the added height and LOS from the weapon mounts does allow it to get clear shots over most barricades. However, area terrain still provides a save.
