Hi fellow guardsmen! I need your help. But first, 3 quick facts: Fact 1: I want my IG army to have a very light infantry/recon feel to it. Think along the lines of the long range desert group from WWII. So working behind enemy lines, maintaining their own vehicles, and the vehicles should look light and highly mobile. Fact 2: I recently did some 3D design for one of my projects, and I think I am really getting the hang of it. Fact 3: Our university have both a 3D printer as well as a laser cutter... SO, if you haven't guessed already, I plan on making some 3D designs of vehicles to laser cut. And I was looking at these guys for inspiration: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G6_howitzeren.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratel_IFVI really like their look and feel, and I am south african, huzzah! Anyway, what do you guys think I can use the G6 as? It has a very accurate 155mm cannon, but my military knowledge is kinda lacking in terms of to what that would compare to. So what do you guys think? Griffon? Basilisk? Oh and I will be working on and of on making some of these models, will post here with my progress

I'd say the G6 would be a Basilisk and the Ratel is clearly a Chimera. Wouldn't mind seeing some of your 3d designs too.

Hmm, if you want a South African-themed infantry army, how about dividing the infantry units into strict groups based on the colour of their uniform and not allowing them to join up with Independent Characters or to use the transport vehicles of any of the other units...? ;D

...on a more serious note, the Ratel could also be used as a Hellhound variant. You would have to have the title "Honey Badger" written on the side of it though, as it's just too awesome to pass up!

Hi all Thanks for the replies I have unfortunately not had the time I wanted to work on this, but got some time this afternoon, and had some fun. Here is the progress image, still a WIP. Some of the things I aim to add after the printing/laser cutting is done. Mostly cylindrical objects, as they doesn't print so well. So ignore items like the barrel of the cannon and the 'soft' area around the H.bolter.

you could try to leave the main gun out, and model different types of guns. this way your tank can be a griffon, a medusa, a basilisk, etc

without the whole turret, the chassis seems a pretty good basis to mount various styles of armoured and artillery vehicles main guns/ turrets.
im not particulary keen on the un-fendered front wheels, but i guess thats just my personal asthetics at play... otherwise a solid design really

Hi guys! I have been busy lately, had to a marriage to arrange and attend And I won't have access to our campus' 3D printers/laser cutters, so my vehicle designs and experiments would have to wait a bit sadly. But thanks for that post, love those guy's designs, especially those scar-autoguns! So meanwhile I did a bit of my own designs, in terms of my new lasguns! Nothing really groundbreaking, but I like it. But would love input and any ideas for changes to this design or for new designs.

The scope and carrying handle look good, the foregrip looks a little wonky though, like its too low or something. Maybe thicken the area above the trigger or thin the area under the barrel.
