So I was thinking about getting some Army Painter Quickshade to supplement my (mediocre) painting abilities until I saw the price.
Has anyone got experience with using 'off-brand' dips? As far as I've worked out from reading other forums, it's similar to woodstain, and I've come across a few American alternatives, but other than people going 'try Ronseal' (which is not helpful as I have no idea which ronseal they mean- there are quite a few types of Ronseal), I can't find a UK equivalent.
Planning to head to B+Q to pick up a christmas tree tomorrow, so being able to grab some of that in the same trip would be great.

Well there's generally light and dark wood stain, if you're dipping something with light colours, go for a light stain. Make sure you get a can of matt varnish too, otherwise you'll have very siny models
