Ok I am struggling with Camo patterns. Can you guys tell me which you think has better look? My guard are from Space Wolves planet so are influenced in colour scheme that way while being kitted out for their winter world. The contestants, please try and discount shading as I haven't applied wash to No. 3 Also No. 4 is abit rushed but I threw in on concept of a splash rush effect needed more white showing I honk though

1 has the best camo pattern, but 4 has that "just walked through a snowstorm" look which works well with the trench coat.

Number 4. Although I don't see how Catachan can be "fitted out" for Fenris's hostile , frigid climate

You'd have better luck with Valhallarn models painted space wolves style (perhaps Space Wolf decals on tanks and Space Wolf heraldry on infantry ?) wolf mounted rough riders ? Yhetees instead of Ogryns ? A Chenkov proxy ?

I do see your point, I have messed up a little as I was trying to go for primitive (ie less clothes I guess) and maybe just shows that they are hard for it.
It is difficult to get them not looking like Catachans.
The problem with Valhallans is the availability of them and that they would come in singular models.
I had toyed with using a lot of fantasy bits but i dont want it to look like I have just stuck a gun on a fantasy warrior if you get me?

Could always source parts from other companies and combine with parts from the Fantasy range (there's a lot of cool beards in the Empire range). I like camo No.2

as a vivid space wolf fan( heck untill sitxth edition came around space wolves were the only army i ever fielded for allmost 10 years) i have to tell you that the space wolves don't allow recruitment from fenris. For more information about the space wolves PFD forces I would heavely suggest you read battle of the fang, it's an excellent book and is quite informative about the kaerls aswell

That being said I was aware that theastares dot really appear before the planet locals and are seen as gods maybe. I am not sure where to go with this now, i still want to have an imperial guard force with a space wolves ally. Can you give me some key features of tat book (without spoiling the story as I would like to read it) Any ideas on where to go with this?

well the battle of the fang is about , yup, the battle of the fang, the fortress of the space wolves legion/chapter, which is, next to terra, the most defended fortress in the imperium. the sotryline focusses on 2 main groups of characters, the first being space wolves, most notable a bloodclawspack and offcourse bjorn, the most badass motherf*cker in the imperium of man (read the book, you'll think so too) and on the other hand a female officer within the kearl, the PDF force of the fang. outside of the fang fenris doesn't have any military presences on fenris and as such the pdf force only resides in the fang. read the book, really! there are plenty of motivations to have space wolves allies, be it an unknown made up campagin, or an existing famous battle. notable battles of IG-SW allies include: -the battle of cadia and neigbouring systems during the 13th crusade, -the battle for armageddon against angron's wolrd eaters. -the battle for montberg spaceport in which bran redmaw send two grey hunter packs to train the local forces and men into fighting the tyranids and succesfully allow the planet to be evacuated -the battle of shadrac in which a pack of space wolves appears out of nowhere and aids the frostbitten imperial guard stationed there in their battle against the tyranids. and these are just the ones from mayor campaigns/codexes. you will find that usually the space wolves will fidn themselves fighting far away from fenris on a huge variety of planets. don't get fooled by the "icy fenris theme". in a thousand sons there is a scene depicting space wolves not even sweating in a climate that makes even the used to exotic temperatures-thousand sons get soaking wet in sweat. for my guard force i've chosen to go with a cadian battlegroup dressed in shades of grey, fitting my city board. this also means my guard forces have a distinctly different painting sheme then the blueish sheme of my wolves, making sure i don't get tired of the sheme
