Well, not exactly. So, many many many moons ago, I started an ork side project to take a break from power armor. So a few AOBR sets later, I had a small ork army. Now, my painting skills have increased exponentially since 5 years ago, so here's my first redone ork! My aim was to make it look worn and chipped, like most ork tec. It is 3 am where I am, so it was hard to find a place with good lighting, so the pictures don't exactly do the model justice. Any C&C and tips on how to paint ork skin and teeth would be greatly appreciated.

For my ork's skin, I started with orkhide shade over all the skin area, drybrush waaagh flesh over all the area, drybrush warboss flesh over partial areas, then use skorpion green to highlight the muscle veins before a wash of either camo or coenia greenshade. your teeth looks fine, I did mine with bark brown, then baneblade brown, then bone before a ogryn flesh wash. ex of my orks: commissar.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=hoard&thread=16625&page=1

My only concern; drill the barrel.

Good call on the hazard stripes The barrel and base would be my only criticisms, and that's if I'm being fussy. Nice painting dude!

Thanks for the input guys! I have invested in a drill for the barrel via ebay, so it should be here in a couple of days.
As for the hazard stripes, I tried white and they didn't look very good... So I tried traditional hazard stripes.
Also, seeing as I have no idea how to play orks, could someone give me a quick rundown on what to take and what to leave behind?

Orks are pretty versatile and can be great fun to play. You should definately take lots of boys as suggested, Big Gunz (lobbas) are much better now the template rules have changed, and Nob Bikers are great for a Deathstar unit to crunch pretty much anything ;D Lootas are also good; 2x units of five work very well, as one unit can finish off what the other doesn't, and the small units are great for annoyance yet too small to warrant much interest from the enemy. 10x burnas in a battlewagon are the most annoying anti-infantry unit ever, and I would recommend them for total devastation of scoring units. I managed to burn out a squad of termies in a turn once, as well as whole units of termagants I've not had any experience with the flyers, although they look great fun!

Thanks for the replies guys! I have my last final exam in 7 hours, then after that I will be heading home and attempting to make an ork list (don't have the codex here at college).

Evening ladies and gents. I managed to whip up a 1000 pt list for an upcoming game (and my first) against my guard.
Big Mek- Shok attack gun
6x Lootas
16 Stormboyz- Nob, PK, BP 2x Deffkopters- TLRL 2x Deffkopters- TLRL
10x slugga boyz- Nob, PK, BP, Trukk 10x slugga boyz- Nob, PK, BP, Trukk 10x slugga boyz- Nob, PK, BP, Trukk
And that puts me in at 1002 exactly (I talked with my friend who I am playing against, and he's fine with the extra two points)
Now my question is to the more experienced players out there, is how does this look?

I hate to say it, but I think you'll find that even mounted in a trukk, slugga boyz are kinda weedy. Yes, they get 4 attacks on the charge, but they strike last against anything but power fists and axes, they don't get power weapons (except the nob) and after the charge, they're only S3. And even at T4, that 6+ armor save may as well not even be there. A ten man mob will be wiped out in the first turn by a 20 man guard blob, much less anything in actual *armor.*
Long and short of it, trade in those sluggas for shootas ASAP. I run two 20 man shoota mobs with 2 big shootas and a nob, and even at the rubbish BS orks bring to the table, that's a scary amount of firepower. Until something happens to give sluggas a boost, I leave mine at home. Except for 'Ard Boyz, because they can *usually* survive long enough to get a few good licks in.
