Start of mike's imp guard path to glory(help plz).

Hi all

I have been a lurker on this site for a while now and have recently started to post on the forums.I have been into the hobby for just over 2 years,and 6 months ago after getting way to many army's and never keeping them i decided to sell up but around a week ago i decided to start up again and this time go about it in a different way and stick with the army which first caught my eye right from the start.

So here i am with a painted army which i got off the bay for a very good price and this will form the bare bones of whats going to be a decent size guard army(note to self!"and for keep's")

how do you intend to continue this army? repaint it? I'm curious wether you'll keep the bases on future models like this or not

Iam not realy sure how i am going to expand the army,a couple of ideas was more cadians but in a dpm camo scheme,or maybe a squad or x2 of vostrayons.

Hendrik-I definately whont be repainting it as it would be a shame to spoil it.

And no this wasnt commisioned it was an army that i had spotted on ebay the week before xmas so i had a bid and won it for a realy good price,i was worried realy as ive had some rite crap off the bay in the past but when it arrived yesterday i was very happy.

Someone here sells great bases for a ludicrously low price... Is it effect? Or... Empirespy? Someone beginning with E, my memory is shocking.

It's 3ff3ct, he does custom bases he does it for peanuts....or the odd grape.

Be careful with base sizes, some of those lipped ones are 30 rather than 25mm which would be a little sneaky over a whole unit - you'd have to take the extra off when measuring coherency spacing.

Like others have said, see what you can do about the bases. Not a big deal modeling wise, but if you plan on playing the bigger bases will hurt more than help. Since everything is measured off the base, it's easier to hit models with big bases?

Other than that though, that's a pretty nice looking army, congrats on winning that eBay bid, that was a nice deal!

Hi all

Been out today and added a few more models to the core force of my army.I decided to go for yarrick is my main hq as he doesnt seem to get much use in peoples army lists (from what i have noticed anyway) so i thought id gave him a home in my army.The lord commisar model will be used just as a normal commisar.

It wasnt realy spare i sold my xbox to buy that lot plust aload of paints,but hey ho it's for a good cause,I needed the paints because i had sold the lot when i sold up.

Any way got them all built and holes drilled,they are built into x3 veteran squads.

Squad x1 sgt bastone,heavy flamer,vox,melta,plasma gun
Squad x2,heavy flamer,vox,melta,plasma gun
Squad x3,vox,grenade launcher,x2 snipers

Next job green stuff and mould lines (man i hate mold lines)

Hi all

decided to do a bit of green stuff work to my sniper vet squad,so i have done the x2 snipers with my version of a guillie suit and i am realy pleased with the result.But what do you guy's think to doing the whole squad in the same way?i want to do it but on the flip side i am not sure if a squad of chewbacka's will be a bit ott

No point your snipers being in guillie suits if the rest of the squad is going to give away their position.

Hey up mate,thanks for the kind comments but i carnt take any praise for the painted men as they was painted by some one esle.

Here is a few more pics of the completed guiliie suit guys (or camo cloak) before i base and then undercoat them.

I'm not sure about the guille suit on regular cadians..maybe do a head swap with none helmet head from the catachan range. The suits itself is well executed, it just need some leaves and such, you can do that when you've decided on your basing. Also, the vox operator in guille suit looks out of place.

yer iam not happy with the vox either,i used the green stuff too late as it was setting so it made it hard to get the pattern in,i am definatly going back to that one.
