Anyone tried using them? They look awesome, getting a twin-linked weapon with Skyfire and Interceptor for cheap seems worth the loss of mobility. Thoughts?

I think this got discussed recently...
Trouble is the cheaper than cheap Vendetta packs 3 twin linked Lascannons, and can transport, jink and is nigh invincible to ground fire.
I like the sabre's though personally prefer the hyperios systems for looks.
That said I am tempted to scratch build some sabres.

is it in 6th edition rule book? it's not in the IG codex so some people might not let it be used.

its in the IA1 V2, it says it can replace any HWT from a platoon; not exactly effective, but it looks cool on a campaign.

I played against some, but they didn't do amazingly well, although my only vehicles were land raiders...

Fair enough. My friend lent me a copy of Imperial Aeronautica, and they looked nifty. Plus, since they're *technically* troops choices, you could park them on an objective in your DZ (or close to it... they do have scout, actually.) As to the Vendetta, I had one of those planned anyway, thought I'm considering trading the Vendetta and one Chimera as vet transports for two Valkyries. Not sure about that, just yet.

The question I have is how many guys use non codex rules for their armies? It seems as I pour through the pages most use forgeworld rules in one way or another. Can FW items be used in GW sanctioned tornys? I was under the impression that they still didnt allow them. Basiclly I am stuck using ONLY whats in my IG dex when I play. No DK, no variant LR, etc etc.

Honestly, I've never seen anyone turn away a DKOK player or any other FW unit because it's not official. GW official rules are that you can use FW models but not rules in official tourneys, but if you don't play in tourneys, who cares?

GW official rules are that you can use FW models but not rules in official tourneys, but if you don't play in tourneys, who cares? Sadly I have seen it happen but it is a rare occasion indeed and only really legit of an excuse if someone is planning on going to a tournament that doesn't allow FW and they want to practice. But that being a rare exception... I love the Saber and I want to try and make some for my guard too. T7, 3+ armor save, its like having a super warrior instead of our standard HW teams. Plus I want to say that the Autocannon variant is only a few points more. The best feature of these is that you get to have Twin Link all the time, without an order being used and it is still TL vs infantry and such. Letting you offer the order to reroll cover saves or to spend the order somewhere else. I think if your army revolves around infantry and HW teams then these guys could be really clutch. If you don't run them anyhow? Well then maybe not so useful.

The thought is that FW units are vastly more powerful than codex rules and unbalance the game.
