They were all pretty average anyway. Not a great loss.

I dunno, considering they owned Relic (all the Dawn of War games, Company of Heroes, Space Marine), and Volition (Saints Row series, Red Faction), and the Metro IP, I think they made some pretty great games, even if they had the occasional miss like Homefront.

Nom of the titles you've mentioned strike me as anything more than average. Except maybe saints row.

Well, for Relic at least, Company of Heroes is one of the highest rated strategy games on Metacritic, and was hugely influential on RTS games that came after, and the only game in the Dawn of War series that got below an 80 was the one not made by them, so they struck quite a few people as something special apparently. I wasn't so much impressed by THQ as a company as I was by stuios like Relic and Volition, which were allowed to operate with enough freedom to do some really fantastic things. I'm more concerned about the fate of those individual studios, to be honest. Reds

"Crysis developer Crytek purchased Homefront for $500,000. No other bids."
Good! That means I won't be able to play Homefront 2 because that game's story was a raging pile of Ork fungus!
"Koch Media purchased Metro property for $5.8 million."
Metro as in Metro 2033?!

hmm this is good news for the 40k licence if it has indeed been bought by Sega, i know it only mentions company of hero's but DOW runs on the same games engine so it would make sence that Relic still hold the licence. Sega don't forget make the Total war games so they won't rape the 40k strategy games like EA etc would, command and conquerer comes to mind. Also i see Koch media have bought some of the studios, they are not as well known but i play a couple of less well known games developed by one of their studios called egosoft. they seem fort the most part to be a decent company based in germany.

metro as in metro 2033 and metro last light thats coming out soon. Sega dont make total war, CA do, they are based in the UK and recently got the writes to make GWS video games. But I dont think it'll be a 40k total war would be what the first DoW expansions were really.

Yeah, and they also publish Sonic and will be publishing Aliens: Colonial Marines. I still don't see the publisher merging two different groups that wont work well together CA have stated they wont do a total war game after 1900, it just doesn't work. I think Sega owning it is good as they seem to let them do their work and do good advertising but also they don't seem to off set their games like Bethesda do, they panic they will compete against themselves. It's annoying to me atm cuz I was going to pre-order Metro: last light and CoH2. Both of which im worried if they will be released now!

tbh if they have bid on the studio's and licences then the games production will continue although release may be delayed walst the new companies are properly integrated into the parent companies structure but as for the nuts anmd bolt of the game which the devs are building that will pritty much go ahead as planned i would assume, the devs will already have a pot of money so they will continue development up until the day some one officially axes the project.
i know for company of hero's they were trying to drum up preorders on steam by giving away dlc if a certain number of pre orders were met, this was a clear sign there was no money left in the pot but sega may turn around and say here's a million carry on lol

Damnit... Sega buying Relic is gonna suck, they haven't released a good game for quite awhile, hate to see what they do to the 40k games. And considering Bethesda had a bid on Relic makes Sega's win so much more depressing.
Glad someone picked up Homefront 2 though, even better thats its someone with FPS experience and a good game engine to run it. As much as you guys say you hated it, I liked Homefront just as much. The story was one of the best I've seen in shooters, and the gameplay offered more than just the typical shooter fare. The multiplayer needed some work but it was still decent.

Sets buying Relic might be alright. GW is very protective of their stuff and if Sega has Relic releasing awful games then GW won't allow them to work with their IP anymore.

I'll take Sega over them with ease. And I know they aren't likely to cancel games but I'm worried that the companies might have to re-work their sales contracts and i might be able to get a better deal/more DLC from some one else already got the steam pre-order ready if i want to buy it lol
