Batou: I know, the rivets is to big. I don't know how to get smaller ones though.
Optimat: I will get you the pics, as soon as I get home. I'm currently in the field with my ifv's. I can get you the pics on Thursday.
I'm pleased with the weathering on the vehicles. Next up I will get work done on my predator. I'll get you some wip-pics on him when i have the time.

I've got my second razorback done! Well, almost, there's still a few touch-ups that is needed... Oh well! I've also started on my troops with my first tactical squad for said razorback! They're not done by far, but considering the time I've spent painting them they're coming alone nice and quick! Picture time: Oh, and another thing... I want special tactical marines, so I used a different kit for them... Razorback: The buddies: Tacticals: I'm really pleased with the skin on these guys! Next time I plan to have them completly done!

Yeah really like the skin! I think the stern guard kit is a good upgrade kit for marines too. There's enough in a box to make 10/15 normal marines look unique enough. With your GK squad too these guys should end up uber ornate which I think is good for the amount of bone coloured detail you are using currently.

Loving the skin! Whenever I try it always looks a little pink. Some how I don't think marines would blush!

If the Tactical Marines look as good as the finished Sergeant then I'm sold! Great work.
Where is Bestia's Chainsword from? The new Veteran Box?

These are lovely! My only gripe would be some of the edge highlights, as the lower ones are the same... intensity?... as the upper ones. Try using a darker grey at the bottom (mix some black in) and it should look a bit more natural. That's me being fussy though, they're a damn sight better than most armies I come across. Kept it up, you'll have a stunning army at the end!

Cosmic: Yep, that chainsword is straight out of the new stern guard kit! That box was a tryout, but now it will be a part of my marines whenever I get some new ones! 3ff3ct: I know I know... I was although thinking about doing it the other way: Using the same grey and a lighter one one other highlights. They tend to look quite dark sometimes, so it SHOULD break all thet blackness up. I will do a test with the next bunch of marines before I do it on all the lads. And thanks for the compliments! Now that the squad is nearly done (a few highlights on the details) I've started a new project: A stormtalon! When looking at GWs pics of the talon it looks like... well a flying blob or fish! BUT it looks much better IRL! That's my opinion although I compared it to my vendetta, and thought "hey, it's pretty small!". No. The vendettas just (as you all know) insanely big! The talon is built and undercoated, and that was how far I managed to get before I went back to base. Now I'm thinking of ways to paint it really used and beaten up. A word of advice: I didn't convert it at all. With new vehicles I like to build the first one according to the prints to be able to get a grip on the model.

Wear on a flier is difficult to get right. Not enough and it's not effective, too much and it looks like a battle tank has been lifted into the air rather than flying above targets and raining death from above, where it will get shot less and not get roughed up by the floor. While I can't paint it great, my theory has always been stick to the underside corners and rear faces for damage, thinnest areas (wings) only for streaks. Underside corners for emergency landings and the like. Rear face for damage because if an enemy flier was attacking the flier that would be the preferred angle, and lastly streaks for corrosion or in-air minor collisions on wings because they give a worn out ship a sene of speed. When I get mine I intend to just stick with bottom corner chipping, though. As it is the command razorback escort I expect it to look suitably well looked after!

So, I've been away for a while, work has taken its toll... But alas, I've managed to paint something atleast! And that something is the first part of my allied force. And my allies became... IG! I couldn't resist the little buggers anymore :-) And, it's firepower I need to my force, so firepower it became: one basilisk, with some custom work! I hope you'll enjoy it: The pattern is used for real in an army, anyone care to take a guess? Pics of the flyer and my first BIG attempt at OSL should come during the weekend. Until then, cheerio!

I want to say the pattern is German, I can imagine it on a Leopard Battle Tank or something?
Also, great work. I like the rear stabilisers, simple idea yet very effective. I can't help feel though that they need to be at more of an angle?

Well cosmic, close but no cigarr! You will indeed find it on a leo2, just not on one from bundeswher! home.swipnet.se/~w-42039/Leop4.jpgIt's the camouflage from the swedish army, and I'm cleaning up my old chimeras to make a replica of the kind of company I serve in. A bit on the feel-good-path, but I have a nice goal and a great motivator!

What angle do you feel that they should be in? Lower down or more to the sides?

So... well.. yeah... Hey guys... Long time no see, and it seems like it's getting to be a bad habbit... BUT I finally have a computer, and in mere two weeks my transfer to another unit is done, so I will be able to fix with all of this a lot more! Have I done NOTHING during this 2+ months not reposting? Well... No. Or yes. Or GAH! I have in fact been quite busy when life, time and family have allowed it! Amongst other stuff my marines have gotten some attention, my brettonians have had some nice horses made ready and I've started a little side project, you'll see. And on another note, new name on the thread/blog to show my wide attention span (and to simplify, no need for several blogs...) So, pics 'ey? Here they are: Firstly, my side-project. A inquisition warband, belongin to an Inquisitor of the ordo Xenos. The inquisitor himself is still to be created. My little fatty, from what model is he made? My assassin, just started A former guardsman or maybe a servitor: And a deathwatch marine. You should be able to tell chapter and company from the colours: The whole inquisitor project is really a way for me to challenge and develope my skills in converting, sculpting and painting, so I'm trying to change the models as much as possible in a sensible way. A quick shot of one of my brettoni knights: My guard vehicles, I've started to feel like a factory... The cross on the top of the chimera is borrowed from the russian marine infantry, their IFVs use it (during exercises...) to show the air force where NOT to bomb And a test of the hairspray-technique Did I say that I feel like a factory? And for last, my marines, with a WIP commander on bike, a bike that is being a little "fixed" (the models is a shame... they really should have made new ones...) and my stormtalon: Aaaaaand done. A major update, but I should be able to minimize the amount of pics at every post now. And since me and the wifey is saving for a house I've made a pact with here that there will be no new plastic until we actually have a house! So, these projects will be the center of my attention for some time now, but it's all well and fine, I need the boost. So, enjoy, and all C&C is appriciated! Until next time lads!

I love your marines; really crisp. The guard vehicles and camo are all excellent too, keep up the good work.

Good to see you're back mate. Everything is looking superb. How are you finding the hairspray? I'm assuming you're using an airbrush, or not? It would be best to concentrate on the edges more than the flat panels, as that's where the chipping is more likely to begin on a freshly painted tank. Also to keep it small chips, rather than big patches. The white cross on the Chimera is ever so neat! I bet you were pulling your hair out masking off over the bumps and lumps

Cheminhaler: Thanks mate! Cosmic: The hairspray takes a bit getting used to, more so considering I DON'T have an airbrush. It leads to some ugly lines visible when examing close up (thankfully I've begun to use a new rule while painting, the "1m-rule"). So an airbrush of a little quality is on the shopping list. And I don't want to be a knowitall, but the scratches on AFVs is like the skin of humans! They ALL have different scratches, some large, and some small. Some only on the edges, and some on the centre of a panel! I will get some reference pics up that I've used The first one was although a test, and it's the older, lower turret. It pops a lot more on the pics than IRL. Well, enough exuses! I see your point and I will think about it in the future Masking chimeras.... Yeaaah... Hell of a work. To break up the AFV masking I'm working on digicam for my valkyrie (no pics until I'm satisfied). Many small patches, but it's flat surfaces atleast!
