Glad I could help!
Nice job on the ChibiHawk! I hadn't seen that before. If I ever pick one up, I'll probably do something similar.
The Storm Talon looks good, but in a lot of ways, it looks more like a spacecraft than something primarily designed for atmospheric use.
I also can't help but think that you've given up one of the best features of the Storm Talon, game-wise. It's one of the few Flyers with a 360 degree arc of fire, which can come in really handy given their general lack of maneuverability.
Still looks rather better than the original, tho. I've been thinking of kitbashing something together with Storm Talon and Nephilim Jetfighter parts, but that's way more money than I want to spend on something that comes in at 130-some Points.

Yeah, the DA flyer would actually make a great kitbash with the Talon kit. It would provide the larger engines and wings that the Talon so badly needs. The people I play with probably won't care if I used the the AC as a 360 deg firing weapon, but I'm more than fine with having them directly fire ahead. To me, it's always been more of a Cobra-gunship style aircraft than a real "flyer" like the Valk or a thunderbolt. Now that I look at it, I may actually remove the lower tail fin, but that would make the aircraft even smaller looking. I'm also considering kitbashing a helo rotor to attach to the top. Thoughts? Here's what it would look like without that lower fin. Reds

A rotor on top would probably help quite a lot to make it look like it could actually stay in the air. It would make it less "Space Marine", tho.
Seems fine without that lower fin to me.

Bigger wings and bigger engines would both be good, and if you want to buy me plasticard to make them, I can take a crack at it. Actually, I might have some relatively thick plasticard sitting around in a box somewhere that I could donate once finals are done...

Sounds good. I used Loctite so I can break it apart for surgery. We should both sit down with the model and eyeball it first before we do anything with plasticard though.

Am liking what I see... having attempted to de-derpify my own storm raven / talons its nice to see others doing it too - and in their own style.
I spent a ruddy fortune on my stormraven de-derp so yours is looking great and far more accessible to the regular bits box collector.
Google Images has lots to offer on the subject of stromtalon conversions, and yours would look spledid with a set of rotor blades me thinks.

Wow. It reminded me of a game I used to love playing on the playstation 1 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-PoliceMuch better than the original. It looks less 'busy'. The original has too much crammed into a small space. Very good work Reds. Nice. I've been saying that since the release so I'm glad that someone else thinks so too (and remembers G-Police). Personally I like the original but if/when I get my hands on one I think I'll keep the side engines and the 360 turret but try and extend the tail and maybe relocate the landing gear (and maybe give it those side-nose wings that t/he G-Police flyer has).

@tread: Thanks! I'm liking the rotor idea more and more as I think about it, but I don't want to do anything until Trooper and I have a chance to sit down with the model and bounce ideas about what we can do. Are there any shots of your Raven lurking about the board? I always like seeing what people do with the kit to try and make it less silly.

Red if your putting blades on to make it a helicopter, they have to be able to spin. That's the rule

I have a strange confession to make here Reds... ever since you likend the Stormraven to a Guppy and gave the image from the Octonaughts cartoon I have inadvertently begun to think of you as Captain Barnacles and Captain Barnacles as you...
My boy watches Octonaughts quite frequently but at the time you posted the image I had no idea where you had found it. Somehow my poorly functioning memory processor linked the 2 pieces of information together.
Odd.

Tread, I'm just going to take that as a compliment...
In other news, I've taken another crack at the wings and armament, thanks to some of the inspiration you guys have posted. Still on the fence about a rotor.

Its actually called the Gupp-B, there is an A, C and D too Wouldn't it be A, B, C, D, DD-Gupp? The person who designed it is a boob.

Although some of these are starting to get into the realm of extreme porn star/Plastic Surgery Disasters (extra bonus points to anyone who gets the specific reference I'm thinking of for the latter).

Hmm...might do that all the same.

Just took some. Keep in mind this is sort of a hack and slash job. If I wanted to make it more seamless, I'd go back with some green stuff and reattach a couple pieces and clean up a lot of stuff. This configuration solves the problem of the assault cannon not having 360 degrees of fire. Bitz Used Aside From Wot Came In The Kit - Rhino top hatches - Ball joints from Chimera side lasguns - Terminator autocannon (I think) - 2 IG searchlights Reds

Interesting use of the rhino doors. I have an unmodified one of these in the process of being painted. They look fab in either camo or solid purple.
