Can Mortar, Anti-tank and Fire Support Squads be taken, when using doctrines, with the Command Squad, without taking the Heavy Weapon Platoon Doctrine? IE, have my Command Squad, have 1-2 Mortar teams to act as fire support?
I am currently using the following doctrines: Storm Trooper Squads Special Weapons Teams Carapace Armor Grenadiers Mechanised
Any advice would help, on whether or not I shoul even consider adding Heavy Weapons to that set up...

yep, you sure can, you can either put them as an attachment for your HQ or put them in the squads, and welcome to the forum mate!

The doctrines you have choosen should work well. I think carapace armour is great, but a little too pricey for my liking.

the doctrines you used are great, except if you are using grenadiers they already have the equivalent of carapace (or have it ) and if you are going to mount your normal troops in tanks (mechanized) they are pretty shielded, but carapace will work well with this when you get out to actually shoot something, so basically your army will be a bit harder to take out than normal guardsmen, except the downside being you will not be able to field as many troops with mechanized and grenadiers and carapace.

His army is similar to mine. I have loads a lot of Grenadiers, I also plan on Mounting them in transports. Can't go wrong with a good old fashioned armoured assault!
