Greetings all! It's been a long time since I was last on the site and even longer since I posted anything... so I think I'll amend both of those things by starting a new thread to show my Iron Hands project. This project will be using the assault on black reach models where possible, home made bionics conversions, and (hopefully) a quick yet effective paint scheme. I'll update as often as I get chance. First off, Iron Hands Captain Iago Rathim: More to come...

Welcome back mate, you've been missed Is that a necron hand?

It's a necron arm - necron limbs were used for my bionics conversion, to retain a unified look. The hand is in fact just inquisitor Coteaz's.
Next up will be the dreadnought and maybe a tactical squad...

Ah! I'd never noticed the hand before. I'll pretend I knew the arm bit was from Necrons then I look smart still

Yeah, this looks like the start of a great project. Welcome back, we missed you. (Oh, and I can't remember but did you see that I painted that awesome Black Reach warboss conversion you gave me?) edit: I just scrolled back up and saw the face in the first pic a second time. How does it look so epic?! (Mad jealousy)

As much as I despise AOBR models, you've actually rendered him respectable

Actually I withdraw my comment on not liking the models, this is just plain sick!

The bases need some form of fluff. Not blue stuff from your bellybutton though.# These are great

Req: . I may add some weathering at a later date - probably using forgeworlds powders. Ivory: That's music to my ears - a little work and even some push fit models can be inspirational... 3ff3ct: yes, I agree - I've been toying with using twists of barbed wire on the larger bases, but not sure about the smaller bases as I want to retain that bleak, blank featureless desert scape... maybe the odd tuft of dry grass... I'll get round to it when I finally decide. I'll get the Terminator squad up later today if I get chance...

Ok, time for the first set of Terminators. Couple of bionics upgrades on these, change of sword for the sergeant, and a Cyclone missile launcher... Sorry for the double post.

Next update - slight break from the norm... decided to add some scouts, so obviously these aren't from the assault on black reach set. I'll continue the AoBR models in the next update. First Scout squad: Second scout squad:

Superb painting and modelling, Inquisitor Lupus!
Love the cog/skull symbol on your terminator badges.

Really like the brazen bolter casings. No bionics on the scouts?

I think they get their first bionic (left hand I think) once they become a full battle brother. Therms cut off their own hand as part of the ascension ritual.

Really like the brazen bolter casings. No bionics on the scouts? The Sergeants both have a bionic arm, not knowing much about Iron hands, I would assume Paradill's explanation is the reason... Great work, I haven't seen many Iron hands done well, I shall be watching this thread with great interest. Also, a delayed welcome back from me also! -Empirespy

Yeah, Iron Hands are known for replacing their 'weak' flesh with bionics - apparently, Ferrous Magnus wad quoted as saying that '...already my sons replace their shield hands...' (paraphrasing here). To me that suggested that full battle brothers performed this, whereas scouts wouldn't have reached that honour yet (except the sergeants of course, who are already full battle brothers). It's not a hard and fast rule, but as each Clan Company is 'fiercely' of others, mine would follow that as another way of personalizing them. Glad you seem to be enjoying them so far - your reward being a second tactical squad. Remember, following my original plan for building the army, tactical squads 'have' to be make using the AoBR models - so this is the same sergeant model, just converted... What next? Hmmm...
