When I first started collecting figures and I saw these figure cases I couldn't let myself spend a bunch more money on something that I didn't think was necessary. Now as my army grows I am considering getting some foam to keep myself from dropping figures. My feeling is now that if I have several hundred dollars invested in these, spending $60 isn't that absurd. What do you guys do for transporting your army? What about models like Vendettas, will they fit into cases?

I am having the same thoughts at the moment. The problem I have is I'm not in a position to spare money on foam when I'm trying to save to move, but having the foam will keep my figures safe during the move.
As for the Vendetta question. I believe they will fit in cases as you can buy foam pre-cut for them.

KR Multicases seem to be the most popular around here. They have foam cut for Valkyries/Vendettas, either 1 per layer if you've permanently attached the wings, or 2 per layer if you were smarter than me and left them removable.

I just found some foam for KR cases on ebay. 4 trays that will hold 200 figures for £18.99.

What are the dimensions of those trays? I've got a great horkin' toolbox I bought to convert to a carrying case, but I'm having less than optimal luck cutting my own foam.

They are the same size as the GW foam trays.

The best idea ive seen is buying a long magnet strip and cutting them into the bases of your minis then lay your toolbox with metal sheets... Its really cheap i would assume and relativly easy.

A lot of folks I know use gun cases. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, include the foam, and are significantly cheaper than GW cases. One of mine is an army pistol case, same size and capacity as a standard GW case. Coincidentally, my local GW is next door to a gun shop...
