Hi there everyone im new here and I am looking for some ideas for painting my guard. I am currently using the new cadians and the paint scheme i have so far thought up is as follows
Nauseating Blue for the pants, Ultramarines Blue for the shirt, and Jade Green for the armour. Does anyone have any ideas for the rest of the model?

alot of times, guard equipment is mass produced and so is uniform in color. an example of this is the cadians - they have tan uniforms with green armor. since cadia has to churn out massive amounts of imperial guard 5+ armor suits (for lack of a better term) they tend to just spray it down with 1 color and ship it off. same goes with dying the cloth.
over time, armies tend to develop a bit more fluff in their paint jobs, like my guard army has stripes on the shoulders of some of the troops to designate their planet of origin (the regiment has been around so long that it has set up recruiting posts on multiple worlds it's campaigned on). other than that though, it's pretty simple. sounds like you have a neat color scheme (blue & green). I wouldn't feel bad about letting it stand at that.

Another consideration is whether or not you want their color scheme to be in keeping with where they're fighting- greys and blues for city fighters, browns and greens for forest fighters, every color of brown for desert raiders, every shade of black for those fighting in a dark world.
Painting a little camo- real spots of camo - can also go a long way. 1, it looks cool when done right, and 2, it can count as cameleoline if you want to take it from your doctrines.

A general rule that I see most Guard players using is this- troops are uniform, officers are the shizz-ni. Seriously, if you want to make your army uniquely yours, the cost-efficient and time-saving way is to do a little fluffing on your JO and SO and their attendent staff. The troops themselves can be standard Cadian/Catachan/Steel Legion, etc.

When I first got into the 40k hobby I had a Tzeentchian imperial guard army under the previous rulebook. I have taken a liking to nice bright colours. I think I have most of the other colours figured out but I am not sure what to colour the gun.

I say go with bright colors.. slightly tainted guards is not unheard of.. but if the armor is green so should the helm.. same armor kinda deal.. and the sleeves should match the vest if cadian.. since technically it is one piece..
I did up mine with tan cloth, but regal to enchanting blue armor.. looks alright..
Just go with what you like.. though you might want to make a guard and test teh color scheme on them first.. just a thought..

/me smacks Gris with the Codex: Imperial Guard.
Look at the page with the colour schemes and try to find the woodland camo on the Cadian troops that has a Catachan Green vest and Camo Green sleeves. The vest can but doesn't have to have the same colour as the sleeves. Since we don't know how vest and sleeves are connected under the armor we don't know if it's really a vest or if its a jacket.

Sounds like some good ideas. I just have to paint the gun and boots.
Thanks for your suggestions.
