It's SUMMER TIME!
And with summer comes employment, which in turn means more capital which in turn means more modelling mayhem!
So to begin the countdown with just under three weeks until I receive my cheque, I've decided to begin my modelling blog on this forum.
As some of you already know, I recently had Cosmic build and paint a 3,000 point Pre-Heresy Salamanders Army. Let me just say that the project was better than expected and I have a masterclass army of my favorite loyalist Chapter to use during my annual summer tournaments.
But...
I have, for quite some time now been toying (pun intended haha so funny) with the idea of erecting from scratch my own World Eaters Company. Frankly my painting sucks and I need to improve so I've made an army list and some fluff to help shape the foundations of an elite task force, despite being a Pre-Heresy Force, I've opted to use the Space Marine Codex and create a vanilla force which is flexible enough to transition between the SM, CSM and Horus Heresy Betrayal Codices:

Now onto the fluff...
As a child, I always loved the story of Spartacus and how he raised an army of slaves to overthrow his oppressors. Bearing this in mind, I couldn't help but notice the parallels between his story and Angrons, so I've used this concept as the main driving point behind my fluff.
Background
The World Eaters 2nd Company also known as the Head Hunters were recruited after Angron liberated the slave colony of Montserrat during the Great Crusade. Montserrat was a verdant, tropical world of halcyon beauty ruled by a wealthy Eldar aristocracy of Slavers. This social elite had enslaved the people of Montserrat and imported slaves from other, smaller, less developed neighbouring worlds for over three hundred years.
The slaves were auctionned and sold into a life long service of indentured servitude and subjected to harsh labour, gladiatorial combat and in many cases torture and rape to fulfill their master’s sadistic cravings. When emissaries of the Imperium and World Eater’s Legion arrived on Montserrat they began a parlay with the Eldar ruling class to agree on the conditions of their surrender and induction into the Imperium.
Infuriated by the dark practices which reminded him of his own, harsh upbringing in the gladiatorial arenas of Nuceria, Angron rejected the aristocrat’s terms and ordered his Legion to liberate Montserrat from the slavers. The high born Dark Eldar were finally slaughtered after a three month campaign, their slave armies were ill trained and lacking in discipline and morale. Entire companies defected and desertion was commonplace.
Angron declared Montserrat an Astartes recruiting world for the XII Legion and ordered an entire company composed solely of Montserrat’s freed slaves be founded to replace the casualties suffered during the initial siege.
Homeworld
Montserrat is located in the Antilles System on the edge of the Segmentum Obscurus, the planet is composed primarily of vast, turquoise oceans and archipelagos with fertile lands making them ideal for agriculture. A true Garden World by Imperial classification, despite it’s tropical magnificence, the world was a central hub for the Trans-Antillian Slave Trade during three hundred years until it was liberated by the XII Legion and converted into an Adeptus Astartes Homeworld and recruiting grounds, the planetary capital was renamed New Nuceria in homage to Angron.
Culture, Physical Appearance and Traits
The people of Montserrat are physically larger and stronger than most humans due to the harsh conditions of their upbringings and extensive physical labor. On average, a Montserrat adult measures two meters and has remarkable stamina and strength making them ideal candidates for the rigorous ordeals required to become an Astartes Neophyte. They are however reputed for their violent tendencies and disregard for human life, Montserrat recruits were often at the forefront of conflicts with other Imperial regiments and units and many Imperial Commanders despised them for their apparently savage conduct and lack of Morales, although often overlooking or ignoring their tough history of oppression where extreme violence was a way of life, enforced by the cruel Dark Eldar slavers to ensure order and submission.
Another disturbing trait was the Montserrat recruits excessive usage of narcotics; drug abuse had been one of the sole pleasures a slave could indulge in as a means of escaping reality and this unsettling social norm was disregarded within the XII Legion where neuro-surgery and combat stimulants were conventional. In many ways, the people of Montserrat were a perfect cultural match for the World Eaters although very few of them actually received promotion to the rank of Rampager.
Military Doctrines and Training
The Head Hunters received their moniker based on their obsessive method of execution by decapitation. The entire company wear the Mark IV Maximus Pattern Armour for it’s enhanced mobility and hence, facilitating close quarter combat and assaults. In addition, the company is trained to use the compact Tigrus Pattern Bolter in conjunction with a one handed sword resembling a cross between a Gladius and Machete, these blades are gifted to Neophytes after their trial’s completion and are worn as a sign of status amongst the Company.
Notable Members
Captain Tyrone, the Executioner
Recruited from Montserrat at the age of seventeen thirty years after it’s liberation, Tyrone rose quickly through the ranks due to his mental drive and natural martial prowess. His title followed in swift succession after numerous campaigns throughout the Great Crusade. Often looked down upon and doubted by allied officers from other Legions due to uncontrollable, spontaneous fits of wild rage, he is none the less a reputed swordsman and feared commander.
Cerberus, the Mad Dog
A veteran of numerous campaigns and the 2nd Company’s eldest member, like most of the XII Legion Cerberus was recruited from Bod’t and had fought alongside Angron on several occasions. On Arrigata he was shot in the neck by a separatist sharpshooter losing his voice box and larynx, his vocal cords were replaced by a crude contraption developed by the XII Legion’s feral Apothecarion attachment resulting in his trademark, monotone voice. Cerberus uses dual Kheres Assault Cannons and provides heavy anti-infantry support for ground units.
Kharkaron, Heraldic Bannerman for the 2nd Company
Kharkaron was bestowed the honour of bearing the 2nd Company’s standard by Tyrone. Like Cerberus, he is from Bod’t and participated in the atrocities perpetrated on Arrigata.
