Hey guys just joined the forum and had a quick question. I'm a huge fan of the lore of 40k but not particularly well versed in the tabletop legalities. I want to use the imperial guard codex and make a tau aligned human army of Gue'vesa with perhaps Tau allies down the road. Is this sort of thing allowed? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Sort of. There's an Allies system in this edition which allows you to take elements of one army along side your "core" force. You can find full details in the 40k rulebook, but it should work for what you want to do. Just remember that the IG units can't use Tau weapons, obviously. Reds

Thank you for quick response.Yes I'm still working out the details but the humans will certainly be equipped using the imperial guard codex. Just not 100% sure what units aren't gue'vesa theme friendly yet.

Wow That's awesome Macknight thanks for sharing. So my theme is to have my gue vesa deployed similar to imperial guard offensively instead of a PDF force. With tau allies for heavy and overseer support. The gue vesa I'm familiar with is the taros defenders but i wanted something more engaged in tau expansions campaigns instead of colonial defenders. Thanks again macknight those conversion are really cool and if u have any thoughts on the proposed theme please feel free.

gue'vesa are more high tech comparing to regular IG, so use cadians, elysians, on my gue'vesa I used left over marine scout heads as they all have head comm.
check out madrobotminiatures.com for possible conversion parts.

Why is noone talking about the awesome Governor, wheres he from? I believe that is detailed in MacKnight's Tau Empire thread. MacKnight, have you tried making any Gue'vesa yet using Fire Warrior torsos, shoulder shields, and backpacks, but with human heads, arms, and legs?

I was looking into using tau torsos and back packs, but ebay sell it too costly, as torso separate and packs separate, not cost effective, and its similar to the cadian torso. I have seen results of it on the tau site, the person even use tau legs with cadian boots. It looks cool but the additional tau armor gave the model 4+ instead of the regular 5+ gue'vesa have.

I had a friend who tried using firewarrior torsos and a cadian head but it looks disproportionate in my eyes and I think mac knights are by far the best around, for conversion purposes
