I had a reaver arrive in the post yesterday. It's quite a daunting task but hopefully I can keep my motivation up by posting pics of my progress. My plan is to paint it using the Legio Crucius colour scheme. There is an apocalypse tournament near me in December so that is my goal. (Hopefully it's a realistic goal) Here is how it arrived yesterday and after I had counted all the bits to make sure they were all there. (which they were)

Oh wow. That's really something else Good shout on the Legio choice, shouldn't be too hard to knock out before December. Are you using an airbrush? I think with some clever masking and a bit of time on the details this'll look stunning. What weapons loadouts did you go for?

Thanks guys.
I will definitely be using an airbrush for this one. I'll be pulling out all the stops to make her look as good as possible.
I got the laser blaster, gatling blaster and the apocalypse missile launcher. I do like the idea of converting up a vortex missile for the carapace but that will have to wait for another time.

Okay, I have a small but significant update. Construction has started! Whilst cleaning I found that the grooves in one of the knees didn't quite line up. A bit of filing later and it was all sorted. I'm currently waiting for the hips and upper legs to cure before constructing the rest of the main leg structure.

Good use of string I havev a collection of elastic bands that I use for kits for exactly this reason. Could be have a 'standard dude' next to the parts next time for scale? I imagine that the lower picture is the size of a Russ...?

Ask and ye shall receive. That is the main structure of the legs. (I was very nervous putting these together) There is of course plenty of armour plates, pistons and hoses to go on too.

A quick update. I've been adding pistons to the legs. It's a bit fiddley as they all have to be cut to length. Hopefully I can crack on a bit more in the next couple of days with the toes and the armour plates. Unfortunately it's winter and the weather isn't too good for spraying. We should be getting a sunny day sooner or later so i just have to make sure I'm ready.

I thought I would give a quick update. This is mainly to give you an idea of the footprint of this thing. It's massive! (in case anyone had any doubts) I've glued on the piston guards except for the front one which had some air bubbles so I'm waiting for the green stuff to dry. (long live liquid green stuff!)The toes have just been placed there to give the overall scale of the foot. I have discovered the trickiest part of the build so far. You have to glue the pistons onto the toes before gluing the toes to the foot. Somehow you have to know exactly the position they need to be in to fit into the slot on the piston guard before you glue the toe on or trim the pistons to length. Sounds like fun, right? Obviously the legs are still missing the big armour plates which make it even more chunky. I will be painting the legs before these are glued on. Hopefully tomorrow I will have time to finish the legs, ready for painting.

It's too bad it doesn't come with spare toes; you could have used them to made defence lines This is awesome! Have you planned out how you're going to paint it up? Lots of heraldry? Factory fresh or battlefield battered?

Well, to say it's been a while since my last update is the understatement of the year! It's amazing how a new house, sick wife and a toddler combine to evaporate your spare time. Anyway, the reaver is too expensive a wagon to fall off so I'm back on! Probably not a massive update but I worked on it tonight for the first time in almost a year and a big moment is the legs are ready for some paint! Believe it or not but it's been a bit overcast in Perth of late so I need to wait for a sunny day to do some spraying. Hopefully my next update will be sooner than the last!

Another small update but still important! The first colour is on the titan! I sprayed the front and rear groin plates red. The colour is a bit off in the pic. These were my test pieces and it's turned out a nice bright red and I'm very happy with the result. The eagle eyed reader will notice that I picked Crucius as my legion in the first post and now I'm painting it red. Well, I changed my mind! I googled a few pics of painted titans in different colour schemes and I don't think black and white will have a big enough impact for the centrepiece of my army. But red will so it is now going to be a Legio Metalica titan. Plus I like the thought of having a couple of House Raven knights running around at it's feet!

Thanks. It sort of went: Frantic... nothing for about 9 months... and I'm back into a (slightly less) frantic pace now.
I'm waiting on a delivery of some new paints and then I will get properly cracking into the painting!

Nice titan legs. Looks like a crazy job just getting the legs at the right angle with all the bitz involved.
