I was recently contacted by a friend of Troopers asking if I would paint up a single Dwarf for her partner. It was a very quick job to do and since I have never painted anything Fantasy I wanted to give it a go... She requested that the dwarf looked like Thorin Oakenshield, but didn't want to use the Thorin mini. She settled on the Fantasy Dwarf Runelord with Great Weapon. I stuck with the blue for the clothing and chose a flowery, snow covered base. I'm really happy with him, a few bits I'd like to do over but hey ho. I had planned to spend the whole day painting, however I have just recieved some sad news that my great uncle died of a stroke this morning. He was a very kind man and it's really shocked my family, been a real blow considering we have actually been told my Nan won't last much longer either. I have managed to get my head down and finish 3 of Chems UFOs though, his thread will be updated shortly. Cosmic

Sorry to hear your bad news. Great looking mini though, I really should put my hand in my pocket and have you paint something for me.

My condolences Cosmic.
How did you find painting a fantasy model vs painting 40k? He looks pretty good.

She's miraculously still with us at the moment! I'm not going to complain if you did do that! My condolences Cosmic. How did you find painting a fantasy model vs painting 40k? He looks pretty good. Thanks, Empty Erm it was ok actually. Wasn't much different to be honest, these Dwarves though are so crammed it's hard to tell what bit you're painting, but I suppose there are some 40k models that are the same.

....these Dwarves though are so crammed it's hard to tell what bit you're painting, but I suppose there are some 40k models that are the same. I think that's why this looks so good; limited palette. By sticking to a few colours, it isn't too busy. I've seen Dwarves before that were clearly part of some kind of Slaaneshi cult... Nicely done!

Cosmic, I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. However, Marie and Robert were quite ecstatic with how the commission turned out.

I tried to keep it simple because it was difficult to see what exactly it was I was painting, cloth or some pendant etc. thank you mate Cosmic, I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. However, Marie and Robert were quite ecstatic with how the commission turned out. Thank you, Trooper. So she told me I'm glad it was well appreciated.
