Hello! I just bought an army of Imperial guards and would like to know what to do with them. My friends got Tau, Space marines and Orks so I would like some help of what to do with my army to kill each of them My army consists of: 16 Kaskrin (like 3 with melta and 3 with plasma guns) 1 CADIAN COMMAND SQUAD 1 Basilisk 1 Sentinel 1 Commissar 3 Heavy weapon teams, 2 with heavy bolters and 1 with autocannon and like 40 shock troops + I do not like the tanks that Imperial guard has, they just look so ugly ! So what to do and what to get?

First and foremost, grab yourself a copy of the core Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook and READ IT! It's really not as inconvenient as it's made out to be. secondly, grab the Imperial Guard Codex.
By the sound of it, your friend has some idea as to what he's doing with 40k (correct me if i'm wrong). Play some smaller games -- about 500 points -- with them until you get a grasp for the core rules and how the Guard plays.
As far as killing all of those armies, you'll probably need a separate army list (a list of all the models you'll be using in a certain sized game) to specialize in killing each of your buddy's armies. Guard aren't good all-rounders. It's just a guard thing, something you'll get used to in time.
As far as the aesthetics of the tanks, that's something you'll have to get over. Tanks, for the most part, form the heavy fist of the Imperial Guard, and armies that don't use any tanks very rarely win. For matches with close friends and when you're not in a tournament, you MIGHT be allowed to use a conversion, "might" being the operative word.
What to get: Guard separate into what're called "platoons." You'll need at least one junior officer and four guardsmen to represent a lieutenant and his staff. After that, you can form a legal 2 Troops + HQ army (further explanation in the Rulebook).
You may also want to consider picking up some units with special weapons and a few more Heavy Weapon teams.
Questions, Comments, Concerns: PM.

yeah as of right now, you don't have a legal army list. You need at least 2 "troops" choices, which for imperial guard, consist of at least 25 infantry models (but you should get the codex anyways). So if you were to field 2 platoons, you would need an additional 10 guardsmen at least. Also you will need to separate the karskin into 2 squads as they can't have 6 special weps in a single squad. How to beat: Orks- stand back, as far as you can, and shoot the living daylights out of them, starting with whatever is closer. Space Marines- good luck, just be sure to use your 3 melta and plasma shots on marines or tanks, because lasguns won't to all that much. I haven't ever played tau before with IG... so I'm sorry I can't help there! good luck!

GET THY CODEX! It will save your life. No like seriously.....
Anyway, use your doctrines to your advantage! against tau take whatever docs you want but always take Light Infantry. That infiltrate ability is the best thing you will have against tau granting you use it correctly. And to understand what that means you need the RuleBook! You will understand more about what I mean later.
Also the guards ability to win lies in their ability to put out alot of high powerd shots so tanks and hvywpns are AMAZING. Now if the other player rolls bad then lasguns are cool to.
