Awesome work dude, I've been following this for a little while now.
Can you send me a link to a webstore I can buy that mold casting stuff? OR is it from a proper walk-in store you got it from?

If you're UK, use these guys, their service is incredible and their products likewise stores.ebay.co.uk/mbfibreglassThese look great Hendrik! Make sure to fill those bubbles though! Also, instead of an elastic band on the barrels, try using the foil from a tube of tomato puree or similar. If you cut it open, fold it out and was it, it turns into a sheet of bendy metal that can be used for all kinds of things!

Also, if you are not doing so already, talc the molds before casting. The talc powder will break the surface tension of the resin and will reduce the air bubbles you are experiencing.

just a light talk layer then? or will the talc get absorbed anyway so that the amount used doens't matter?

Just a light talc dusting. Basically hold the mold open and talc it then shake it around to ensure that you get good coverage and then tap out the excess.

Thanks!I'm aware the model isn't as nicely detailed as the forgeworld version and still suffers from airbubbles, however I'm already really pleased with how these models came out, especially after painting! Now we still need to see how they work in combat,I'm curious wether the ability to give orders to them will change the battle performance

Hey Hendricks, when you painted your artillery did you have a lot of problems? I found that when I painted the "positives" that I used with the plasticine the paint really didn't want to stick to them, primer or otherwise. I even cleaned them with soap and water. I've also run into some of that with the casts themselves.
Your guns are looking pretty good.

i haven't had any problems painting them whatsoever. I first undercoated the models with GW chaos black spray, and then applied a dessert brown spray to give me the lighter brown needed. from that point on it was really easy to paint them. do your casted pieces feel oily in any way perhaps? do you spray your molds with a releasing agent (i don't)?

do your casted pieces feel oily in any way perhaps? do you spray your molds with a releasing agent (i don't)? These two Sometimes if the resin has been kept too cold it'll set all greasy (i don't know why). If you keep your kit at room temoperature it'll prevent this. Likewise, release agent can be greasy, although as mentioned a toothbrush, warm water and some soap should solve that.

inspired by the recent topic on aggresive guardsmen i did another reading of my inquisitor codex, took some pen and paper and decided to let my brain relax a bit from studying all that chemistry and focus on some armybuilding! my latest list had two dropsentinels in it,which had some limited succes against my opponent (a tau+necron combined force), mostly due to bad scattering, that BS3 MM missing his rearshots against longstrike (who actually kills a tank a turn and therefor must die as soon as possible). total point cost:160ptswho so far never really made their points back. now all this fidling around with the inquisitor codex made me think of including a small inquisitorial detachment, and here's what i came up with: -ordo xenos inquisitor: bolt pistol, forcesword, psycher (1x divination power), 3 servo skulls(to deny my opponent infiltrating/making my artillery twin linked) 64 pts -henchmen warband: 6 x HB servitor, 1 x jakaero 95 pts now this little unit almost seems too good to be true! on a 2 these HB get 48" range, meaning the tau won't be able to hide for these shots!, on a 3 they get a 3+ armour save, a 4 makes the heavy bolters rending and a 5 gives all the models a 5+ inv save. and on a 6 i get to roll twice! this small unit will hurl out 18 heavy bolter shots a turn! making them very deadly! anyway, since my brain also needed relaxing i devled into my bitbox and decided to do some converting, and here's what came out of that! and some more detailed shots: the ordo xenos inquisitor: the gunservitors: -project XIV: inquiisitor .... succesfully transplanted an ork head onto another ork, using an arcance brainnode device to couple both of the orks their brains and increase their IQ exponentially. this has resulted in the ork now being capable of more rudimentary thinking work,as well as basic mechanical understanding. two psyrod pens insterted in their brains are linked to one of the many implants inquisitor ... has done on himself to guarantee the orks will always be obeyant to the inquisitor. -project VIIIBAIII: this servitors body was greatly enhanced using aggressive DNA coupling to the DNA stems of the ork species. so far this has resulted in exponential musclular growth and the others who still need some fluff: now i'm really looking forward to using these in a game, which will take some take before that will happen again. either way they were a lot of fun to build and as you might have noticed i will still need to build 2 other servitors and a jakaero!

Really brilliant work on the inquisitor warband. The two-headed ork is just insane..
The plasticard cyclops is very detailed and realistic.

I like it; good camo scheme and good work on the yellow and black hazard stripes under the barrels.
