Hi im new to the game and slowly working through the rules. i have got myself and ig army and wanted to know what people thought. what next, doctrens? ect.
my thought behind my army is that instead of a standard regiment i have gone for the idear of a fast reaction force.
command platton heavy bolter squad las cannon squad special weapon squad inc 2 snipers
1st platton 6 man cadian hq 3 10 man cadian squads 1 10 man cadian armoured fist squad
2nd platton 6 man cadian hq 1 10 man tallarn squad with autocannon 1 10 man cadian squad 1 10 man cadian armoured fist squad
3rd platton 6 man cadian hq 1 10 man cadian squad 1 10 man cadian armoured fist squad 1 10 man vallhala squad with mortar 1 10 man mordian squad with lascannon
basalisk griffon 2 salamander scout vehicle 1 vanquisher 3 leman russ mbt 1 exterminator
any thoughts most welcome.

your a bit off the ball if you want a tornement or store legal force, you need to stay within force organistation charts, unless its just a apocolypse thing. now looking through the list i was wondering have you been given a load of stuff, as a lot of it is classic and hard to find pieces that arn't seen on the table a lot these days, but lets look @ your heavies you can have all three leman russes a good all round start. for me though it would be 1 bassie and 2 russes, the salamanders are great for fluff and themed games but are not alot of use else wise , the vanquisher is great for anti tank and the exterminator for anti inf, so they would be used in a more specilised army facing a enemy , you know alot about, and need a bit of practise to get the hang of using them properly. but i would start with what i said earler, it is good to use and easy to learn how to use the guards best asset easily. now troops choices, look ok at first glance, but your hq choice is all wrong all you've done is made a 3rd platoon, in the codex it shows you your set up and standard squads dont fit in, what you can do though, is make them some of them into 6 man speciel weapon squads and then then it will be legal everything else make into remenent squad and put it in your other platoons, though on a quick glance/guess your packing well over 2500 pts, i think it would be wise to scale back to about a 1000 and play alot of small games then you can build up from there, ok,
hope thats some help, but great job on landing yourself a good generic force that can be easily adapted to make a handful of problems on any oponent,

just bin the rest into a 3rd platoon and your all square and legal

AF squads count as a seperate platoon and counts as one of your troops slots.
So your list should look like this-
1st platton 6 man cadian hq 3 10 man cadian squads
2nd platton 6 man cadian hq 1 10 man tallarn squad with autocannon 1 10 man cadian squad
3rd platton 6 man cadian hq 1 10 man cadian squad 1 10 man vallhala squad with mortar 1 10 man mordian squad with lascannon
4th platoon 1 10 man cadian armoured fist squad
5th platoon 1 10 man cadian armoured fist squad
6th platoon 1 10 man cadian armoured fist squad

cool thanks for the info do you this is a good all round army there is a few things i would like to add in the future like fast attack, rough riders ect but would like to prehaps convert them to make things a little different to anyone else.
what do people think of the fast reaction force idea, i will have a look how to post pics and start posting when i have painted some of it soo many things to paint
