Hello! Im new to the forum and I have started a Death Korps Siege Army list and was wondering how effective it is, and if it needs anything more to support it. Its mostly a foot slogging army at this point and plan to add more tanks in the future.
HQ: Command Squad with 4 Vets, 1 Regimental Advisor, and Lord Commissar.
HQ: QuarterMaster and retinue.
TROOPS: 2 Guardsman Squads, I can pimp them out with wargear if I want, each squad has a commissar and a watchmaster with power weapon and Krak Grenades.
Elites: Grenaider squad, Nothing fancy here. I ca give them a Commissar too but is it worth it? They have a grenade launcher and heavy flamer.
I also take 2 artillary squads. One with 3 Mortars, and another artillery squad of 3 Autocannons.
I also take Dark Angels Allies and they have;
HQ: Captain with storm bolter and chainsword, artificer armor.
Venerable Dreadnought: Twin Link lascannons, missile launchers, and smoke launchers.
Troops: Tactical squad, all bolters and one flamer.
I also take a Chimera for my command squad.
Anything its missing to be good? Advice? How should I expand the list to make it better? Improvements?

Welcome to the board!
I'm afraid troops come in the form of platoons (at least 25 men apiece), however. You'd need two more command squads and two more infantry squads for a legal list. Though your opponents might cut you slack for having a starting army.

Hello, I looked up a PDF of the krieg codex, an easy fix to make your current list legal is just to make both of your troop squads into engineers. From what I have read they are like standard guards vets and do actually count as one troop choice each. This would make your army legal without having to buy any more men. Also you would have to take out your autocannons and regular mortars because they are heavy weapons squads that can only be brought through a platoon. I would buy more troops and command squads like stated before, but i would also start to branch more into the world of armor with a Russ or two. Just my two cents, and welcome!

Hi child of krieg, welcome to the boards and a lifetime of mud and blood! The krieg are an immensely rewarding force to collect. They are fantastic models, which makes painting them alot of fun. Also they play infinately better than before given the boosts to both artillery and gun lines in general. Are you using the forgeworld pdf for the siege regiment list? If not you really should! Unless you want to build an assault brigade. Ok, now for the nit picking. I may be completely wrong here but I was under the impression that you can't buy a command squad for a commissar lord, if it turns out we can I'll switch over to field one! Thus I think you may have three hq choices. There is no option for grenadiers to include a commissar, jenburdoo has hit it right on the money, you need a minimum of 2 infantry squads and 1 platoon command squad for each troops choice. So the engineers route may be desirable. Take the heavy weapons squads as heavy support and save yourself some points. The main pull to collect krieg - other than the models - is the artillery. Get some heavy mortars and an earthshaker or 3! Really can't stress enough how much better barrage and artillery units got this edition. Sit them behind some cover in your deployment zone and bring the pain! Sorry for the wall of txt but thought some of this could help you build a legal and effective force. All the best

www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/d/dkksiegelist.pdfthats the list you have to make the army from. It doesn't state a FoC in the PDF so I assume it uses the IG codex so you need 1 HQ and 2 troop choices, your troops choice is between the platoon which requires a platoon command and 2 infantry squads, it can add heavy weapon squads to it as well. OR you have Engineer squads, their more assault forces than veterans, they have BS4 but they have shotguns and special assault gear, DKoK are quite good at melee. Oh also remember Engineers are only 5 men strong unless you spend more points on them and count as elites if you give them a drill. I also don't know their gas grenades effects any more as they've not listed it in the PDF
