Since I'm starting to get a fair amount of vehicles together (a few LRs, Chimeras and Sentinels), should I dish out for some Tech Priests? Personally, I've never been too fond of them fluff-wise, but should I consider using them at all? Thanks!

never used them myself but i would say if there backed up by some combat and gun servitors they look pretty damn handy, though i think there tank saving abilities arn't all they cracked up to be.

TBH I would like to field one but there are too many draw backs that make them un useable for me.
To take 1 engine seer will cost u an elite option, and a doctrine point (this is why i dont take preists or psykers either, 1 doctrine point for 1 guy is too much).
Add to that the fact that the servitors have to come from his personal war gear allowance, and it just isn't worth taking one any more. Well not for me. I'd love to take one in a chimera with lots of mech servitors so i could mend my vehicles, but u have to max out on fixers to stand a chance on fixing any thing (compared with the fricking ork trucks that used to fix them selves, our dedicated guy was crap at it) and u can't add any fighting ones then cos run out of points.
Nice idea, and I wuold like to try taking one, but atm, it is just too costly IMO.

we were better off before the faq when the servitors didnt count towards the points. however you could play vanilla guard and use everything

If you have some points left over and your strategy relies on a techpriest, then go for it. I can't tell you how many times I've shot up my friends tank only to have him patch it up and return fire later in the game. They're decent combat units, and if you take some repair servitors and maybe a gun servitor (and keep them firmly planted on the tanks a$$-end) they'll probably last you the whole game.
in other words: give it a shot.

Remember that Tech Priests are non senior officers so they are only allowed to take 50 points of wargear and servitors count as wargear.

I've had little luck with my tech priest. I just keep him right behind a tank, but he does better in close combat than fixin things.

I've tried to use them and their a complete waste of points, outfitted with a full team of servitors they cost a much as a grenadier squad.

i have some tech priests, i use them from time to time, as I like the BS4 heavy bolters and multimeltas. but as Addictive says they are supposed to come from wargear allowance, so you can't have a maxed out squad of a tech priest + 4 gun servitors. even if you could they still die quite easy.

I've got the maximum amount of Techpriests im my army. Give 'em as many tech servitors as possible and stick 'em behind your most prized tanks. It works every time. I haven't ended a game withought all my leman Russ tanks still in full working order since getting my enginseers.

Techpreists are also the only IG codex unit with a 3+ save. Plus they're cool fluff-wise, but they're still worse then a techmarine overall.

If you give your Tech Priest the Honorifica then it is better than a Marine Tech priest.

That would be a dream. For my own army I only run one with 4 tech servitors. Considering my army I had to do a conversion. Took the Techmarine backpack and fused it to the Sister's Hospitaler model. Looks excellent after I handmade the poweraxe. Now if I can only remember that danged init 1 powerfist attack at the end of combat.

I've never been too fond of the whole quasi-religious undertone, but I've been able to adjust my army accordingly. Still, thanks to everyone for the advice. I think I'll stay away from Tech Priests for now.

"The full cost of an Enginseer's servitors counts against his wargear limit." IG FAQ, V. 4.0. The codex specifically states that the servitors don't count against the war gear limit. But your right... the errata has done a complete 180 on it and now they do. Odd that they made such a drastic change in the errata, usually they are meant to just clear things up. But there it is in black and white

They're in the wargear section and all wargear is limited. The errata just cleard up something that I thought was obvious. Though I do think that Techpriest should be considered as Senior officers and sould have 100 pts of wargear.
