These are the models i have painted for my IG army so far : And my first try at converting a tank, this is my counts as medusa. So far my models can be marched onto the battlefield as a 500 point list, which is as follows: CCS with Autocannon Vets with Autocannon (x2) Vets with three flamers Medusa ADL I don't know much about the IG fluff so I don't really know what to name them. Anyone on these boards have any suggestions? Does the scheme remind anyone of any fluff of certain regiments?

nice conversion, it looked like the 'gun' is too big and burst out of the pants! lol! The shovel backpack on the HWS is upside down. You can make it any regiment really. mighty kane 829th led by Michael kane 'my cocaine'.

I like how you made an honest effort at shaving down the seam lines. Looks like you caused a little more damage on some models for it (been there my self). You cleared that one off the crown of the helmet very well.

These guys are looking pretty good. The colour scheme looks like it is probably quite simple to paint too (and if that is true then you've saved yourself so much hassle for when you want to bump up to 3k). I also like the way you've based them.
I can't say that they remind me of anything from fluff but if you want a name why not try to think about what sort of world or warzone you picture when you look at them assembled on your table. What opponents are they facing most often?

Good work! As others have said when it comes to naming your army it's up to you, call them what you want and come up with your own background for them. My army doesn't currently exist as they are in the middle of a chaos invasion, I'm using this as a way to develop them from the ground up.

naming imperial guard armies for dummies: -pick an imperial planet (the galaxy map in the 3rd edition rulebook is good for this, you now know which sector the army will most likely be active in. this can be influenced by your meta game, someone facing nids and tau regulary will be located more towards the eastern fringe then to the eye of terror.) -roll a D3, this represents the amount of digits your army number will have. -roll D6 dices (the amount of dices is determined in the earlier step) -kick some xenos/heretic ass, all in the emperors name!

Thanks for the quick responses, this seems like a pretty helpful forum. I've decided to name them the 7th Macharian rifles. I read one of the Macharius books a while back, although horribly written, I think the idea of the Macharian Crusade is pretty awesome. Next up in my army project: about 30 guardsmen, to fill out the platoon, and two veteran squads. Expect more updates!

And the Macharius model is pretty sweet too. See if you can ebay one to use as a statue or as a commander who dresses up as him.

Oh man that sounds pretty sweet. Maybe a creed stand in or something. But yeah for a squad of 10 dudes, it takes me a total of about 5 hours. Is that about average? How long does it take usually for you people to paint a squad? I try to do as much assembly line painting as possible, I think it really speeds it up.

For me a squad usually takes around a day or maybe two if I get distracted. I second the Macharius stand in idea, it sounds cool.

I don't ever think I've seen a complete one without the lasrifles out the transport's troop carrier compartment. Kinda like it.

They certainly look a lot better with the holes covered than when they are just left empty. I'd do it that way if I wasn't in love with the lasguns sticking out the side look.

Yeah, I figured they are shooting plasma guns or meltas out of the top hatch anyway, if their are Lasgun turrets, where would they fit the specials? Also, I originally had the lasguns there, but just cut them off and shaved them down, partially cause I think they break real easy if you put the chimera upside down for some reason ( I like to do that when my vehichles get wrecked, kinda cheesy but it signifies is much better. )
