If you assault a Eldar WraithKnight with a blob can it break away after assault or does it have to remain in combat until resolved?

Actually - I did play against an Eldar player who fielded 2 WraithKnights. I lost the battle but got to thinking afterwards that I should have blobbed a 20 or 30 man unit and charged his Wraithknight and tie it up for a couple of turns. I figure he only has 4 attacks in combat and assuming he misses 1 or 2 per attack I'm not going to lose the blob for a few turns. I figure taking 100 to 150 pts of Guard and tying up a 275 pt Wraithknight for 3 or so turns is good trade off.
He took out a lot of tanks with the Wraithknights and I was trying to think of a way to keep them occupied while my tanks reduced everything else in sight.

Yeah, you can Tarpit them like that. If you've got Meltabombs on your Sergeants and Commissar, you can actually drag one down that way, tho it takes a while.

Thanks WestRider -- I actually had a bunch of Melta's/Plasma's that took one of two out. BUT it would be more beneficial to really soak them to the point their useless.

I'd love to see a Waifknight get tarpitted by a Grot mob... (Note to self: Finish building and painting my Waifknight. Finish painting my Grots.)
