Can somebody help me save money on good paints that won't have GW's usual mark up? What do y'all like to use?

Can somebody help me save money on good paints that won't have GW's usual mark up? What do y'all like to use? Vallejo paints are aces, and usually cheaper. Their black is a touch wonky, but aside from that, they're great. They come in screw cap bottles too, rather than those stupid little pots. Avoid Testors like the plauge. Reds

For terrain, etc I use the craft paints from any Hobby Lobby or Michaels. They work great, some have even found their way onto some of my models.

I personally use GW paint alongside some Vellejo ones, the brushes I use are cheap fine detail sets($5 or less) from hobby lobby. GW brushes are not much better than those and are at $10-15 per.

How much is GW paint in your area?

$3.50-4 average, I get 10% off from the store being a friendly supporter, so that pays for the taxes. I buy paint locally to make sure they're in good quality.

Never buy gw brushes, the army painter ones are Ok but for things like base coats and washes you can get away with the cheapest of the cheap, I use a set which was 15 brushes for £2.99 (free postage) and army painter detail brushes

Art shop paint brushes are good.
I like the very large drybrush that GW do - all the rest are awful.

Vallejo are the way forward with paints, cheap and great. For brushes, I use nylon watercolour brushes. They're cheap-ish, and when they get knackered they're easy to replace. I had enough of changing fancy sable brushes every 6 months.... Although I do mostly paint so no wonder they wear so quickly

The paints do get a lot brighter once dried as oppose to the gw paints so don't be tempted to mix them too much when applying, do test models first

Not really happy with my quad gun so far, but that maybe just because i glued one of the ammo drums on backwards. Anyway, the flat brown is really winning a place in my heart for what i want to accomplish with this army and its color scheme. Fairly certain at this point that it will become the primary color of my regiment's uniform's. Some good old Cadian green may be next, my intention is that they still pull the majority of their gear (flak jackets, helmet's, canteen's, ect. ) from the same supply as other regiment's and Cadian green IS Cadian green.
