Ok I need a choice of doctrines. I am thinking drop troop like this Cadian special service: ca.games-workshop.com/news/cn/articles/Imperial_Guard_CA/J_B/army.htm
or a light inf with like this dude at the bottom of pg 8 ca.games-workshop.com/WhiteDwarf/download/WDSupplement/WDS%201.pdf
The problem I have is that due to money/time constraints I will only field one army and focus on it totally therefore I will need the doctrne up front to decide on the fluff but most importantly select the model's look and colours.
Generally in computer games I am a defensive player that worries about economy of forcce and only attacks when I know I can roll the enemy and acheive the objective, and no I will not play SM they look like they wear pijamas Tau maybe but I would love to defend humanity.
However The army will also be based on esthetic, militaristic look of the force. I need Kasrkin a lot love the models, however there is not much choice here so I will not get both Storm troopers doctrine and Grenadier Doctrine to field 6 units, 3 are fine so maybe Grenadiers.
Now I seem to have my elite slots empty so I will choose vets cause thay pack a punch with both heavy and special weapons (rocket luncher and 2 plasmas with BS4 and LD8)
Now my units are expensive so thay better stay longer cyber ench give invoulnerable save of 6+ but its not likely that I will roll that good right?
Camelionile or carapace are obvious choices, I would go for carapace since if you cling to cover you will still get an ok cover save yet you still get to roll for armour right? Yet if you are cought in the open an expensive upgrade like carapace can make your troops live long enough to survive 1 more turn and fire whats left again, also I could get a command scouad with flamers and carapace 2-3 power weapons (officer, standard bearer and comissar) looks cool.
So I would have the following
Carapace
Veterans
Grenadiers
Now both grenadiers and vets are led by cool vet sergents also I have a high value of Ld accross the units that being 8 with command HQ maybe more. Question is do Iron discipline makes a good choice as I could only give it to HQ and would not be applicable to the rest of the troops since they do not have voxes nor keepind them so closely together is always possible. I would make it my fourth pick but not sure. Also thinking bout hardened fighters but that would only be applicable to veterans not grenadiers so no. Oh and if I do not get Iron Discipline and go for something else I could spread comissars to most of my units but not Hq making an officer heroic officer. Then I could take light inf to add snipers since special weapons squads have poor BS and anyway Vets will out gunn them, yet then I would need at least one troop of regular infantry since it is not applicable to vets or grenadiers, and would be a waste of slots for vets. Completley undecded here.
Fifth doctrine should pertain to the deployment like deep strike or mechanized. Although I would not take mechanized just buy transports where needed not to disturb my nfiltrating vets. Drop troops are cool but would they allow me to utilize my Grenadiers from turn 1 and focus my combined fire power. Despite that I am definitley getting a Valkyre, sometime, so I could by pass deep strike with the use of that unit right?
Basically I am out of ideas for the 2 last doctrines thanks for getting through my ranting and much respect for that please help me make a cool choice als feel frr to tweak my inital 3 doctrines.
BTw since some of citadel vehicles are just ugly (look worse than soviet era equipment and that is an understatement eg leman russ) and forge world has extremly expensive models is it ok to use for example modified Hind as Valkyre if so what scale, btw there are some sweet ifv on pig iron productions that coul go well with IG.
