I got some plasticard over the Christmas break and am looking to scratch build a Marauder bomber from a papercraft print out.
Any tips for ideas that would help in this effort would be greatly appreciated, i.e. glues, clamping, supporting, etc.
Thanks in advance, will post photos as things develop, Doug

Here is a quick (and FREE) HOW-TO guide on plastic construction: www.plastruct.com/picat/Vol_9_Complete_9.pdfPages 2 & 3 have helpful basic info. I found this while looking for my favorite liquid plastic cement, "Plastic Weld Solvent Cement" by Plastruct. You can also use a thicker glue such as testors, although these types of adhesives melt the plastic pieces together so use them sparingly. You also asked about clamping devices: www.micromark.com is a good place to look for hobby tools, but you can usually find something similar that is cheaper on ebay or amazon. Must plastic stock manufacturers offer a wide variety of shapes and sizes to suit your needs. With some of the weird angles you may run itno, I would recommend painters tape or rubber bands to hold thing together. Micromark also sells some angle plates (like these: www.micromark.com/angle-plates-1-inch-and-2-inch-and-3-inch-set-of-3,7183.html) which you may find helpful. ~Yarrick22

i've tried making a couple of items from plasticard and for me the hardest part was glueing them pieces together! I tried using superglue bot often ended up gluing myself to the plastic... for the main hull pieces a thicker plasticard might be usefull to use to ease the gluing process?

my "duplicate" pieces are resin, but all the masters were made from plasticard. i found it hard to create all the hollow strucutred without missaligning them/accidently creating gaps. however i'm not that experienced with plasticard yet. my main problem was getting the plans on the pasticard and cutting them out precisly. does anyone know any tricks they use themselves? i tried gluing the paper to the plasticard with superglue but found it hard to scrape off afterwards.

Maybe try printing them up on a thicker paper like card stock or something

Hmm, put a small pin in all the corners of the print out while it's on the plasticard then play dot to dot with the saw? Won't work for curvey bits obviously
