hey i'm new to the Bord and to the imperial guard. i'm confused on how the to set up the command squads. here are the questions i have:
1. how does the Junior Officer for things like infantry and heavy weapon platoons work? does he get four a guardsman for staff like the HQ does, or not?
2. So you have to have one command squad per infantry platoon or just one in general?
3. do you have to use a doctrine to gain the ability to but support squads for your HQ?
4. can the command squads for platoons have support squads as well?
well thanks for your help

1. The JO works as a intermediate command to the platoon. Receiving and relaying orders from the HQ to the Platoon. Yes he has a retinue of four.
2. You have one to two HQ choices like any other army in 40K. Usually this is your HSO, support Staff and if you choose to add them your special/heavy weapon squads.
3. No. Doctrine are something that is your choice to use or not. Some find them restrictive others find that for their army that they help build their army stronger.
4. Do not have my Codex with me at the moment, will have to check.
Welcome to the grinder. Bring bodies...

hey i'm new to the Bord and to the imperial guard. i'm confused on how the to set up the command squads. here are the questions i have: welcome! yes he does. one in general (called the command HQ, which can be a junior, sr. or heroic senior officer with all the options, from company standard to master vox to support squads and all that) then also one command squad for every platoon (be it infantry or heavy weapon, if you take that doctrine). the only support squad that must be unlocked by spending a doctrine point is the 'special weapon squad' the rest are available without spending any doctrine points whatsoever (even the sentinel squadron ) noper. the platoon level command squads are simple jr. officer affairs with no extra support squad options. you also lose the option for stuff like the company standard and master vox, which are restricted to the command hq. no prob, glad to help!
