Hi All
In regards to the force organization chart, does an infantry platoon count as a single troops choice or do the minimum 2 infantry sqauds that are part of the platoon satisfy the 2 troops choice minimum requirement?
Thanks

No, only a platoon counts as a troops choice. You will need a minimum of two and therefore four infantry squads and two infantry junior command squads.

there is also the option of a squad of grenadiers (stormtroopers taken as troops thru the use of the 'grenadiers' doctrine. they have a minimum squad size of 5 models and count as a troops choice.
technically you can satisfy your '2 troops' with 2x grenadier squads of 5 stormtroopers (just go buy 1 box of kasrkin stormtroopers and you're good - there's your 10 models).

I think the codex rules are actually as follows (ignoring TB's totally righeous Grenadier point):
a) two troops choices minimum b) one troop choice must be a platoon consisting of a minimum of a platoon command squad and two infantry squads. c) You can then choose another platoon, a conscript platoon or armoured fist squad as your alternative. Although you can only have one "alternative" (conscript or armoured fist) for every infantry platoon in troops.
Minimum troops cost (ignoring Grenadiers) is just under 250pts for a 25 man platoon and 20 cons. So two 10 man grenadier squads are cheaper (although under half the number of bodies)...
Although, looking ahead to Ed.5, it's rumoured that only troops will be able to capture positions, so break out the platoons.

Another cheap option is an armoured fist squad. These can only be used if you have at least one normal infantry platoon. That's all you need to buy is 2 Cadian shock troops boxes a command squad and a Chimera. This will give you 40 standard cadian models and a 5 man command squad. 30 of the cadians can be used as 3 infantry squads within a platoon. The remaining 10 troopers can then be used as a Chimera mounted armoured fist squad.

Actually, you don't HAVE to take infantry platoons at all, if you use the grenadiers docttrine. Which is a point that may have been made before, but clarification can't hurt.

i was reading this topic and looking at the codex i was wondering where does it say that you can only have 1 armoured fist squad or conscript infantry platton for every platoon. From what i read and understood you can have 1 armoured fist squad and coscript platoon for every infantry platoon. could you point me in the right direction for where it says that. thanks
