I'd go for some techpreists and servitors first,
It'd be cool to see an army themed around the 'elite bodyguard' for the baneblade
Maybe some sentinels as outriders and some chimera / aircraft transports for the shocktroops.

Yeah that would be good. Servitors and Techpreists to keep it alive. I want kasrkin / stormtroopers anyway so that would go well with that theme.

Gah! That is not a typical "beginners'" army. It pretty much depends where you want to go from here... if it IS your plan to build your army around the Baneblade a few more vehicles will definitely come in handy, and I might start with a couple Chimeras which can easily be tacked into your unit options.

Oh well i think building it around the baneblade seems sensible as it will be what opponents see first. Iv just added 5 stormtroopers to my army today. One for the command squad and one for stormtroopers? Was thinking getting leman russ punisher for a bit of anti infanty?

Punishers are not the best option. They may be fun, yes, but not especially effect with up to 32 shots sixteen of which will hit (at 24 inches), ten or less of which will wound, and then having to wait for armor saves. Throw that at a large ork mob or tyranid gaunt pack and it won't even flinch.
The kit is modular, though, and if your new models are unassembled I strongly recommend you build them that way, with different weapons able to be slotted in and out.

Pask is truly frightening in a Punisher, especially if he has a DIvination psyker casting Prescience on him. However, because Pask is a Tank Commander, he needs a squadronmate. A barebones Eradicator is good for a cheap escort. Unless Pask is in the turret, the Punisher is a terrible tank.
I suggest you take a look at the IGMB Tactica Imperialis thread in the IG Anything section; we're trying to write the definitive text on playing the Imperial Guard/Astra Militarum/playboy bunnies/whatever GW decides to call us now.

I disagree that the Punisher would be that terrible a choice for this army. It might not be one of the premium units in our dex but it has its uses. In this case guarding the baneblade, 24 inches is a short range but ideal for dealing with troops that are trying to get in close to destroy your super heavy. The thing about the punisher is it will get all its shots so it is just as effective against a smaller unit as a larger one while a blast template scores fewer wounds on smaller units, or ones that have already been roughed up.
A punisher will probably destroy a unit of melta vets or stormtroopers that are trying to melt your super heavy and it can do it even if they are right next to your hull, right where you don't want to be using blast templates.
What I would do though is leave your russ turret options open, either magnetise them or pin them so you can switch up on what tank you want.

I have 2 plasma cannons one on a stormtrooper and other on a guardsman. Thanks for the advice my other two leman russ are the MBT type one with hull mounted flamer the other with a lascannon,Both have heavy bolter sponsons.
