I just saw 3ff3ct's post and competition and that got me looking at just how much backlog I have on my bench! I am buried in primed and un-assembled models...but that's probably a good thing. Hobby security. What I want to get finished asap though are my Vendetta and Elysian Sentinals. I started these a couple years ago and realized I did not have the skills to finish what I had started then and so I have left them while I built a lot of other stuff. I still don't know what my next steps should be though. So far I have primed them, painted base coats of a rust color and did the hairspray and salt thing, topcoated the basic finishing colors and rinsed them off and sealed them. At this point I am unsure how to proceed. I think I am ready to wash them for the lines...but now that I have you guys brains to pick, I thought I would ask for suggestions. What do you think?

These are looking off to a great start! The nest thing I'd suggest is doing the metallic areas, like the jet exahusts and intakes on the Vendetta, and then dirtying them up with washes and pigment powders, and doing the hydraulics on the Sentinel, and using washes to make them look oily, along with finishing its multi-melta.

Do you have weathering powders? Ashotninja does some fantastic weathering on his tanks in his EDF thread found here: commissar.proboards.com/thread/13953/eden-defence-force-taurox-plusI thnk your models would look great if you added some dusty weathering to go with the rust to make them look more worn. Right now they look like new paint is flaking away to rust underneath. When parts start rusting that bad, its after they've been outside for some time and the paint is worn and faded and they haven't been taken care of. TL:DR: Your rust effects look great but check out Ashot's weathering to add to your effect. ~Yarrick22

You can go the cheap route for powders by getting a pastel set, but they have clumping agents in them that will mess with the overall effect. However,I have seen some people use the pastels effectively too. My personal experience has been with powders (though I have a long way to go to get anywhere near Ashot's capability) but dont let that sway you from looking at the pastels. I think it boils down to personal preference (for example testors enamels versus citadel or vallejo acrylics). ~Yarrick22
