I've been thinking about starting a 30k force for quite some time now. I toyed with the idea of Ultramarines but couldn't get passed the initial 20 or so miniatures. A while back I posted a picture of a Sons of Horus sergeant. It was ok but the green didn't sit right. Then I saw the green knight in white dwarf. I knew then it would suit the Sons of Horus well (the books said it was an "oceanic green.") So with that in mind my wife ordered me Horus. After about 8 hours work he's now finished! Thought I'd share (I'm rather pleased with the results) Here he is: Thanks for taking a look! Next will be either a squad of Justaerin Terminators or a Reaver squad (with jump packs!)

You have a wife that supports your hobby? Can I clone her?
That said, that Horus is pretty impressive.

Looks great! Good start to what I'm sure will be an impressive army.

Looking good! On highlights, once I'm done painting them, I like to go back with the base color and lightly push the paint up against the highlights. This tightens them up a little and makes them sharper. There are a couple places on the PF and Bolter that might benefit from that.
Great detail work on the face! Keep it up and I'm looking forward to seeing the grenadiers.

Thanks for the tip mccaptain. I'll try it on the next models I paint. A friend of mine said my Deathrider command squad needs "tarting up!" So I'm gonna do a re-worked Deathrider officer. Have a look on my Death Korps log...

Checked them out. Love the look of them. I'm very jealous.

Finally got the bug for painting again, raided my bitz box and came up with this chap! I'm pleased with him. The question is do I continue to kit bash, or do I go the pure Forge world route? Here's the pics:

They look amazing so far. The face highlights especially look very detailed.
Maybe get a squad or two of pure fw ...whatever armour mark you fancy. Mark 5 looks amazing with all the studs but if you want it to be a purely historical army stick to marks 3 or 4. I think there's more choice for 3 & 4 as well because there are 2 types of base infantry kits for each
