Hi. I'm pretty new to the game, and am currently taking baby steps into the whole armybuilding behemoth that is Warhammer 40k. As of now I only have 40 extra infantrymen, one HWT and two sentinels apart from the models mentioned in the list. Any advice from you veterans?

Hello, and welcome to the IGMB! First things first, I'll just need to take a DNA sample with this filth encrusted rusty spoon, please report to the quartermaster to receive your tissue paper armour and laser pointer. In regards to your list, I have been out of the game for a while so if anything is wrong, I'm sure someone will be along to correct me shortly. The first thing that stands out is the bolt pistols for me. Just seems odd when you have a mainly gun line list. Swap them out for full on bolters if you can. Much more range friendly. The second vets squad is up next. What's the plan for these guys? They have carapace but without a transport they are basically an easy kill point, I'd drop the carapace and drop the plasma (your plasma vets in the chimmy and your Russ can handle any priority MEQ targets) then give them a heavy weapon, I love auto cannons, or sniper rifles and camo cloaks then whack them in cover to give your enemy a troublesome unit that they are forced to deal with. Your PCS set up is a little confusing for me, but I think you have 4GL in there? Swap them out for four Flamers or three and a box/three and a heavy Flamer and you have an order giving unit that can sit back chilling with your gun line and then leap out to burn anything Killy that isn't shot to nuts by the time it reaches you. Edit: Just noticed that if you come across any high AV vehicles then you're gonna struggle. Might be worth dropping the hellhound and getting a chimera and three shiny melts guns for the second vet squad. Or get the melta variant of the hellhound with some list tweaking (is it the devil dog?) for some fast moving tank hunting. It would make a pretty big target though. Hope this helps

Thanks! I picked bolt pistols because the models have them . The platoon is comprised of four squads of ten infantrymen and one command. Two of the squads have vox casters and all of the squads have grenade lauchers. I was planning on useing the second veteran squad as supporting fire. The problem is, as you say, lack of power against armoured forces. I thought the missile launcers, the Leman Russ and the squad of meltavets would do the job, but maybe not. Also, with the new rules obectives are very important. So I see myself just storming across the field and getting shot to pieces. Therefore I'm planning on investing in some Assault Marines as allies. Should I rather go for more armour?

Your choice really mate, mech lists are always good and fun. Ithe thing I liked most about your list was the gun line with a couple vehicles for grabbing distant objectives.
You don't have any melta vets at the moment, but if you did a Valkyrie or a chimera is a must. The short range of the melta weaponry and the squishy ness of the men means that the weapons probably won't be used before the vets are dead. Melta is awesome at wrecking AV14 though.
How is your PCS equipped? Just officer and four las gun dudes?
Also, the MoO, he's a bit of a hit or miss weapon. He always scatters, so you might get lucky and scatter into a group of high value enemy models, you might on scatter 2 inches and hit your intended target, or you might completely miss everything or worse, kill some of your own units. I'd drop him and use the points elsewhere, to make things more Killy or more survivable.

I mean plasmavets. I always mix those two.
The platoon command only has lasguns and vox. If I remove the moO I can buy a heavy weapon team for them.
There are so many choices!

At 1000 points I used to run a CSM list that included Khorne Berzerkers in a land raider. It would move towards the enemy, screened by rhinos full of fire base squads of CSM and blow up any armour, then it would get to the enemy and disgorge the Berzerkers.
You have not got a way to counter a list similar to that at the moment. I'd say a heavy weapon is more reliable than a MoO.

Exactly! So many things to think about. Thanks for helping. I'll update the list.
