I want to make a couple of veteran squads representing the bodyguard regiment of some imperial governor . Give them a ceremonial look with bright colors etc . I have settled on using this sethttp://store.warlordgames.com/collections/napoleonic-french/products/napoleonic-wars-napoleon-s-old-guard-chasseurs-1789-1815 as a starting point . Any advice on how we bring these guys to the 41 millennium . I have some cadian infantry and command squad bits .....

Do you have any of the models on hand? It would be helpful to see how they measure up to a Cadian or other GW model.

Not yet but it appears they are scale compatible ..... i have already thought of using the respirators , voxes and grenades and a couple of chains words for officers my main concern is how to make a musket look like a lasgun

If the scale matches up well enough then my first port of call would be to throw in lasguns (avec bayonet of course) along with whichever special weapons you desire.
If you want to make the muskets look like lasguns, you could take the tip of the existing weapons and replace them with the tip of a lasgun barrel.
The look of those weapons should bring them a bit more into the grim darkness.
Grenades are a must on every model that has them codex wise.

I've just bought them actually. They are "true" size, not epic (like warhammer). So they look tall and slender next to a gw guardsman. The cast is naturally not as good as Gw's, but you get 60 miniatures . It is possible to equip them with gw weapons, but the proportions are a bit off. I like my grenadiers, but it's a matter of taste I guess. Oh.. and EVERYBODY ('cept the officers) has mustaches. The faces look grimy, weathered and old. Love it!

I just use their flintlock muskets. The old guard doesn't trust the lasgun stuff. Their weapons are handcrafted from the thousand screams of martyres, forged in the fires of eternal war.

I have them, they are compatible for use with the Forge World DKoK lasgun and other weapon arms, they scale nearly perfectly with them.

You mean I was not the first to think the old guard could be used in space ? Cool . Can you please sent me a couple of pics of your conversions ? Perhaps next to some gw guardsmen for comparison ?

I think you can find some pictures if you google "Victrix old guard"

I do not currently have access to a computer as mine died on me (I am limited to what my phone can do...), so posting pictures is difficult at the moment. I may be able to get some pictures taken in the next few days. I chose to use them as they make a good translation of the old Imperial Army artwork.

Got a set. You can't combine them with any GW kits. You might have some luck with Mantic's Corporation Marines.

Mantic marines are too slim and small, so unless you're using them exclusively, they'll look very strange next to normal Guard, and won't take conversion bits well. Consider these, though.

Assuming those are built the same as her Arcadians they'll look like this among GW models. The weapons and arms are noticeably smaller and might pose some conversion issues, especially for the weapons they are also a little shorter but not by much.

Uh, he was asking about Victrix Fusilliers, which are also too small and slim to work with GW products, so I recommended the Mantic minis to go with the Fusilliers. Also, if anyone has any spare Mantic, I'd happily take it off their hands. Hmm. Should get some Arcadians for a supply/2nd echelon unit. Going to need a ton of smaller-scale small arms for both my Vostroyan platoon and my proposed Space Samurai platoon.

I used regular Cadians with fantasy empire pistolier heads for my palace guards.. Any dress uniform guardsmen like praetorian or mordian would do, as mentioned Victoria minis have good varieties but their true scale like FW.

FW is definitely not true scale; it's barely smaller than 40K. Heads/Hands are only 35% enlarged as opposed to 40K's 40-45%. Victoria is not either, it's just what I call "Perry Twins Standard" heroic scale; heads/hands are only 20% enlarged.
The only truescale plastics are the ex-Immortal Miniatures Hoplites that Warlord Games sells.
