Just a warning to who ever sees this in store: www.thewarstore.com/armoryspraypaints.htmlI needed some new primer and they are priced pretty cheap and happened to be in store. I did a phone check and saw some decent reviews so I gave it a whirl. The test spray seemed okay, but I should have done more of tests. Five storm troopers later and I checked WTF. I practically ruined the models. It is like the paint is a think coat of powder that is just globbed all over the plastic. And if you touch it a lot just rubs off. It is just a chalky mess. I immediately went to the store and grabbed some brake fluid which they are just about finished striping that garbage off. Thank god! Just a friendly warning to steer clear. Greatly want everyone in that company to suffer for selling such a terrible product. While I was grabbing the break fluid, I picked some of this stuff up for 5 bucks which works great www.duplicolor.com/products/sandablePrimer/ Its for cars, but I have used it on mini before and it is solid.

I have gone through many cans of the various Armory primers and have never ran into the problem you described, though it does go on a bit thick. One bad experience is not worthy of going on a crusade to 'want everyone in that company to suffer'. Grow up a bit. Yes it could have been a bad can, but more than likely had to do with temperature, humidity, and most likely that you were too far away from the minis which caused the paint to partially dry between the can and the models (hence the thick coat of powder).
In general I tend towards Krylon primers as they are very consistent, bond well, and have nice texture for painting.

You think armory primer is bad but you're telling people to spray their models with car paint? I have been using black armory spray primer since I was 12 years old. 10 years, and I have only ran into that chalky mess problem you speak of when I don't shake the can up enough before spraying, in cold weather when you shouldn't be priming anyway, and when the can is nearly empty, in which case I just strip it off and buy a new can. For $5, it's pretty cheap and doesn't look nearly as good as Citadel primer or Army Painter primer, but for large masses of Guardsmen, it's a steal. Guardsmen don't need to look perfect, so I use armory. For my HQ guys and my elite troops I use army painter primer.

I suppose it is possible I could have had a bad can or perhaps I needed to do something different with that particular spray or something else etc etc. I could also be over reacting as I am very pissed off at something I paid money for. My experience was simply very bad. I never been so furious with a product that should be simple to use led to hours to two hours of repair work using a method I had to look up on youtube. By comparison, no other spray has caused such a problem. I have heard great things about Krylon and I actually was looking for that in the store, I just ended up seeing something I knew and though why chance what was working.

Who knows if it was a bad can or not. It sounds like the product isn't evil since some people are using it without issues and you ended up finding something you liked for a price you liked so I guess everyone ends up happy.
