The first 4 are still wet from the shade. #5 had time to dry.

Nice and dingy and a classic colour scheme for Steel Legion. Will you be doing more work on the visors?

These look quite swank (that means "swell" or "good" in Aeonese)
very swank indeed
For the visors, do you need advice on how to make them look like glass, or have you simply not gotten to it yet?

I tried to high light with some white and a slight rub of the finger to make streaks, and did some with 1 white dot to make different types of reflections. I will attempt some pics. I did some highlights with the original coat colors too to lighten up raised arms and bumps in cloaks. I usually do a thin later of mate modge podge to coat the paint scheme.

Usually mix the modge podge with some water. To thin it some. Before applying for easier spread

Those are looking better. You could also go the other way and put some Typhus Corrosion on them to represent the unrelenting winds of skank that feature on Armageddon.

Put that just on the lenses?

You could limit it to the lenses if you didn't want to mess up the rest of your paint job too much. Another thing you could try is leaving it most visible on the lenses (where you'd probably spot most of the buildup) and just appearing along certain stretches of the uniform (which would probably hoover up and absorb the worst of the crud). You could also use it to dull the recesses of the lasgun metal.
The more you use the dingier your model will get. Which is great if you want guardsmen who have been out in the weather of Armageddon, less great if you want vibrant clean looking models.
I'd say that it is worth playing around with, maybe on a spare model and if you are in GW or another LFGS maybe ask about people's experience with the paint or if you can get a demo.

Thanks! I may check that out. Should be getting some more steel legion figs in the mail next week from a trade along with some forgeworld DKoK with it. I will paint one up. Not sure if I will use them in my army though. May put together a DKoK regiment too!

The dried earth technical paint might work for you too (for bases?). I have some but I haven't found an excuse to use any yet.

Update: here is what I have finished as of today NOTE: I am using the steel legion commissar model as the commander. It fits quite well, and will be using yarrick as himself. Looks good. The commissar is a nice model and it suits being an officer.

Thanks! I am super glad I was able to get it in a trade. He will forever be my company commander. Should be getting yarrick on Monday, and I have a 750 pt game coming up against orks a week from tomorrow. First game with guard! Super stoked. My friend has no idea I started guard. Steel Legion VS Orks for the major fluff win!
