For a bit of fun, I'm planning to make a Company Commander into Red Skull (from Captain America). I think the standard Company Commander should be fine for his body, but I'm unsure what to do with regard to his head. Ideally, I'd like one without a hat (mainly so that it stands out more), but I'm willing to settle for one with an officer's cap. Anyway, are there any IG heads that might be suitable for this? In case it matters, I'm aiming for him to look like the version in Captain America The First Avenger (as opposed to the comic versions, if they differ):

Strange as it may sound, a Necron Warrior head might be a good starting point. www.heresy-online.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1031602I'd personally remove the lower jaw as well. Grabbing a few skulls from either the Chaos Vehicle acsesory sprue or any Skeleton kit from the Vampire Counts or Tomb Kings range might also work.

Hmm, I fear that Necron heads and VC-skulls may be a bit too... well... skully. In that, despite his name, Red Skull seems to have at least some flesh over his skull. On the other hand, since I play both VCs *and* Necrons, I'll have a go at painting some spare heads and see what they look like. I'm still looking for other possibilities (just in case), but thanks a lot for the suggestion.

The chaos warrior command skull head will fit the bill perfectly. You'll need to do some minor chopping to get it to fit, because CW use the same head system as space marines. There is no flesh on this head either but it looks chunkier than a severed skull and not as irregular as a zombie head. No eyeballs either but that's easy to fix with green stuff. bits and kits

No eyeballs either but that's easy to fix with green stuff. I suspect the lack of eyes will be a problem for several possible heads. However, could you elaborate a bit more on how I could fix this with green stuff? I do have some, but I'm not very proficient with it, so I'd at least like a bit more idea of what I should be doing with it.

Its similar to blu-tack in some ways, just stickier. You knead the two halves together for 2-3 minutes until its an even green.
Make sure the surface (the head/ eyeball sockets) are completely dry, but keep you sculpting tool/ pin/ screwdriver wet with water.
Roll into 2 tiny, tiny balls (really I can't stress enough how you just have to use the right amount of GS) and using your wet pin/ sculpting tool just force them in and gently smooth over any roughness or indentations. To make sure you don't waste any GS have other stuff nearby that needs GSing, or just make the excess into sandbags or funky geometric shapes.

I was looking at the head the other day while assembling a wolf guard battle leader, and it might be unsuitable because the back part of the head is like a helmet. It looks like Skeletor...
You might be able to cut the back of the helmet off and file it down.
