Hello All, I am being a good Imperial servant and forswearing the dirty xenos Tau in order to focus more purely on my Imperial Guard. Basically I am trading the Tau I have for a trio of Baneblade kits. That being said, I am unsure how I should build them as I do not currently have a copy of the Apocalypse book and there are a variety of versions to choose from. Which variants are the most effective in your experiences?

baneblade is an excellent all rounder and probably the best unit choice
shadowsword is sniper for taking out the big stuff though if you have experience of trusting in a single lascannon you will understand how this tank plays
stormlord is a great big pillbox for lots of heavy weapon squads which can also be used to flamer stuff if you want a slow burning pillbox
the others are mixed flavours of the above - the only other one to note is the cannon which causes difficult terrain due to the shockwave effect.

I would say the Hellhammer is worth a shout too, i have a baneblade, shadowsword and hellhammer and by far the hell hammer with its ignores cover is the one removing most models, only downside being shorter range

I do have one already built as the Hellhammer, I do like the ignores cover bit. Any thoughts on the Stormblade? I realize I would end up scratch building the plasma blastgun, but am wondering if it would be worth the effort?

the choice between 2 strong shots or one huge even stronger one is appealing, I have considered proxy-ing my shadowsword as a stormblade before.
