Hello all, With the start of 2015 I decided to get more involved with this hobby, and resolved that I need to finish painting my army! Hopefully starting this thread will give me some motivation to get it finished. I'm still figuring out the best way to set up the lighting for taking these photos, and hopefully if there's any decent sunlight any time soon I'll take some nicer photos near a window I painted them in the standard Cadian 8th colour scheme, not just because I have no imagination but because I've seen the scheme so much that I now really like it, and it seems like it might be a fairly common colour scheme for different armies around the universe. My army is around 1250 points now, with just under half of that painted. I'll share a few photos below and over the next few days will uploads images of the rest of the painted models. Company Command Squad, shown with Missile Launcher team but will be run with Lascannon team My Company Commander (kind of regret building this guy with a power sword and bolt pistol now lol, he looks kinda cool though Standard bearer (I need to fill in the banners on the flag with pen at some point) I like how the back packs and smoke grenades turned out The bases for my models look a bit browner in person, the lighting is just making the highlights look quite stark. Here is also a quick pic of a standard trooper who was painted more recently with a bit more care, the base isn't finished yet in this photo but the lighting shows off the model quite well I highlighted the skin for once on this model and it makes a big difference when seen up close That's all for now guys, hope the images aren't too big! Will upload pics of my first platoon soon

Great, neat and tidy painting, Derrunwolf, really well done. The backpacks like you said have come out beautifully. If I was to pick out one little problem it's that they look a little shiny in certIn places, a quick spray of Matte Varnish would sort that out and just finish them off I think

Thanks for the comment Cosmic Yeah some of the models are a little shiny in places. I think it's because I apply a wash of Agrax Earthshade all over the model as the last step of painting these guys and it tends to dry like that. I should really use the wash part way through painting and then go over the armour again with Castellan Green but I'm too lazy for that! It only really shows up under a bright light such as my lamp but I might invest in some matte varnish soon to tone down any glaring shiny parts! Cheers for the tip

Classic 8th Cadian scheme. Love it. Also love to see someone mounting the missile launchers on the bipod.

Great stuff mate. As said by others a great tribute to the mighty 8th.
Wish I could paint so cleanly, I just cover my guys in grit and grime to cover up the multitude of sins I make when painting haha.
looking forward to more. Cheers, Cuthbo

Well it's been over 4 months.. so much for uploading more pics "over the next few days" lol. Sorry! (This year is going too fast!) Thanks for your comments everyone, I really appreciate them, it's nice to have people actually see my painting for a change (I haven't played a game in SO long). The Lightning! - yeah I like the missile launcher bipod I think it looks cool! Cuthbo - I spend so much time going over rogue brush strokes, so I feel you there haha. If I get tired of the corrections I just hope the wash at the end covers it up I've been doing some painting recently, and I've found a good spot in the house to take photos with good lighting! Here is a pic of the Command squad in the new area with better lighting: And here is my 1st platoon! The Platoon Command Squad: Infantry Squad 1: Infantry Squad 2: My next update will be my two Autocannon Scout Sentinels which I've very nearly finished painting, but knowing me it might be a while 'til I upload a pic (I'll try my best!) Btw, I've recently discovered how awesome the Stirland Mud texture paint is for basing It takes a fraction of the time to do bases with this rather than my PVA/sand/multiple drybrushes method. I wish this stuff existed before I started my army cos I can't switch over to it now or it will look weird that some models are based differently :S When I start my allied detachment (Skitarii) I might use Stirland Mud instead

Very nice freehand numbering, something which I have been attempting myself. A good job overall by the looks of it.
