Were they half metal? My broadsides were fairly effective against my buddy's guard back in the day. The only problem was the fact that he would use tons of terrain to block my sight and then I'd be pummeled with basilisk barrage rounds until I was dust. Whirlwinds, yeah!!! Awful model to make !!! Haha I would lose it! I remember every time I would go to transport my army, I would open the case and find multiple detached metal pieces from plastic and think to myself "I just fixed that two days ago!"

When asked why he has no helmet, his reply was "I dunno Commissar, I don't need it" when I asked why this wasn't the case his reply was "it's good I look different so the other guys in my Platoon can see me" Personal Items Also noted, instead of the standard goggles to help protect the Regiments eyes in this environment, Captain Unbra instead has sunglasses. Note his eyes appear slightly blood shot and his skin dry. - Medical records attached ((- Instead of thick gloves he has fingerless light gloves and none standard boots. Worst of all is the fact that his combat weapon is 'up on my [The Captains] wall" and his has a crude looking shotgun and has shotgun shells rapped all over his body. Why I requested a reason for none standard issue weaponry he replied "Its grate for urban warfair!" Smiled at me and lit a cigaret. Presentation The main factor is Captain Unbra's hair cut. It's not standard and it's long. For the enclosed enviro suited Steel Legion this is often overlooked. However, as he refuses to have no helmet it's obvious. As well as being long and so could easily be easy to grab by an enemy. The real problem is that it's the cut of 'House Celmaw' a Hive gang on Armageddon that the Captain used to be a member/possible-leader before being recruited into the 141st. This could cause tension between the captain and some of his men. A lot of the 141st had been Hive gang members, some possibly rival to 'House Celmaw' Disregard to orders Captain Unbra always completes any task given to him and to a good standard. But if he can bend the rules he will do. For example: Easy Company 1st Platoon of witch he is Captain and is said to be the top Company and Platoon in the 141st was given the mission to hold a bridge. 2nd Platoon, Two Russ and I were attached to the 1st Platoon. After taking the bridge with almost no opposition Captain Unbra put together a '"raiding party," Him and two other pick of the little troopers from his platoon, a Veteran squad and a small scout unit disappeared into the ruined city over the enemy's side of the river. When I raised my objection the Captain said "This patrol will help disrupt the enemy movements and slow them down." When I Said it was outside our spec he replied "Sir, our spec is to hold the bridge, we will do it better with this patrol" I attempted to dissuade the Captain and even said he should send it, but he should stay here with his platoon, he just replied "Captain Tenebris of the 2nd platoon can handle it here" and he walked off. Conclusion Although Captain Unbra is a fine officer, who has the tactical mind and his platoon members love him I request he be demoted, if not removed from all rank and placed into another regiment. I look forwards to your reply, Commissar Pit >>ATTACHED >>ATTACHED PLANETARY DATA DOWNLOAD>PROCESSING>DOWNLOAD COMPLETE

There should be a button next to the person's name on the post you want to quote. Click "quote" and it should open a reply box with the post you chose already quoted within.

Sorry new to forums dunno how. ITs ok tho I got a similar effect going on with mine. Did you airbrush the steel legion drab on? Hi Zealot I've been doing mine like this 1) After basing, Spray black, lay on fronts, coat, Lay on back, cost again. Stand up and coat again. 2) Spray Zandri, leaving the underneath to look like shadow. That's in a can, not the spray gun. 3) Drybrush Agrax. I was highlighting but it takes way too long, and the final look is much the same. 4) Ink brown. 5) Instead of black, I used black wash with a little black added. It's easy and quick to apply. It's cover is not as good, however, the bits that grin through look like white highlights. 6) Then the brown on boot covers, gloves etc. 7) Green gloss wash used for the goggles. 8) White circle on shoulder badge and red lightning bolt. That's the only real detail. Note, I haven't done flesh. It's so hidden it looks fine left in the cream. 9) Highlight the rubble with a quick drybrush of white. 10) Ink the model brown again. DONE

Amazing tank dude. Youbstuck to same reigme as you painted ur infantry? Basically the same. Same paints, the only diffrence is I've done no brown wash (except the crew man) and I've done a black wash instead.

Do you feel as though the lack of metal officers and their poses that are available leave a sense of repetition within your army?
I'm asking because I'm interested in getting my Vostroyans off the ground. I plan for at least three platoons as well but I'm a bit hesitant because of the fact that I only have three officers to choose from and, therefore, will have two of the same officers (because the company command squad is included bringing the total to four command squads and I don't want to use the company command squad officer.)

Well.... I've found (with the Steel) that the amount of poses seam to be enough.
There is only six lasgun guys, however the posses are done in such a good way. For example, the guy who had his lasgun pointing down. Depending on the angle he looks completely different. Is he cautiously bounding forwards on patrol? Or is he with his back to a wall, waiting to peer round. Or is he front to the wall looking round... My point is, even if you end up with two of the same model in the same squad, they can look different. Also spare weapons crew can sum times be used as lasgun infantry.
Officer wise, yes, there is only one, so I have two converted. But I'm sure you can do the same with Vosts.
Srg's are my main struggle. But I think that because the Sargent is in a very odd position. I like the look, but loads of them! That's why I've bent the odd ones arms about.
Don't forget, the cadian players have the same thing really. The Srg doesn't have a lot over than the angle of the arms. The lasgun guys, there's only six arms. So other than the waist and I suppose the (not so) different heads, you don't get a load of poses.
If I was doing Vos, you could mix in Valhallens, for non vetran/carapace squads? Give some more squads. Even, perhaps for a mounted squad, a squad of Steel legion, they have long coats, perhaps add fur collars and cuffs?
Commissars could be used as an officer? Creed might squeeze in with fur added also.

I had to do it... Got a hydra!!! Going to have to convert the crew... The guy reading a memo is easy... I have a spare las cannon Gunner.
The model firing the Twin Autocannons... Might be a but if a faff. I have a few grenade launcher guys. I think I'll take his arms and weapons away. Add the original arms from the hydra kit and putty any damage/gaps up.

Great looking army you got there! Those guys (and the executioner) realy look as though they've been out in the wastes for weeks.
If you don't mind me asking: what did you use as a base to put those heavy bolters teams in the last picture on?

Great looking army you got there! Those guys (and the executioner) realy look as though they've been out in the wastes for weeks. If you don't mind me asking: what did you use as a base to put those heavy bolters teams in the last picture on? Hi Nutty, Thanks, here's how I did the bases... The bricks are plasticard, around 3mmx4mm and I've cut them into lose bricks. Because of the amount I used clippers, a knife took way too long. After making loads, I mixed some bricks with the thicker basic material, so some of the models throughout the army have the odd brick. Tying the walls into the rest of the army. Between brick layers I use green stuff 'snakes' when the level above was pushed into these it was aloud the squeeze out, giving a look of mortar between each brick. The bottom few layers of brick are not individual bricks. Instead of cutting single bricks, I cut a length of the plasticard and just ran my file across the front to cause the gap. The gap doesn't go all the way trough, giving the look of mortar between each brick. Here the team have removed a few bricks so only the nose of the Lascannon is exposed. The top levels are made up of separate bricks, giving them the look of coming lose. So the mortar has come away between the bricks and they have moved. Gaps are easy to achieve, just leaving spaces and building each layer overlapped like bricks are usually from one layer to the next. Some bricks just plonked ontop, as if gravity alone is holding it on. Here I've made it look like the guard have kicked some of the brick works away to allow the Lascannon to fit into the terrain. The odd brick toppled and rubble added. Now the Lascannon and it's crew are protected, with only the top of the cannon exposed and aloud clearance to survey the field infront.

Thanks for the guide/tutorial: very informative Those heavy weapon bases have so much extra room to play with... and I'm still not sure what to do with mine, so I'm just trying to get some inspiration. I'll be sure to give you a shout out if I decide to go with miniature masonry

We'll I did detail with my heavy squads. But the heavy weapons in infantry units I've left rather plain so it's more obvious they are part of that squad and not hiding in some rubble someweare.

Putting my money were my chem inhaler is...
By 2016, 2000pts of this army will be fully painted! 90ish models and a tank to paint...
Keep watching this thread to see how I get on!
It feels like what it must be like when a planets governor signs his Tithe application and has to have that amount of troops ready and trained.
