He wasn't infected by a virus though. The Soul Drinkers had guarded the Armchair of Questionable Fluids for hundreds of years, keeping it safe in the
Valley of the Targetting Matrices. The Orks stole and looted it but their Warboss, Da Lemon Steela was crushed into his armour by Soul Drinker gravy guns. While he was recovering the Nob who looted the loofa sat in the armchair and the deamon of Nurgle that was imprisoned in it offered him a deal.
It would make him strong enough to become da big boss if he allowed it to possess him. He'd also get to be super big and dead killy.
The Soul Drinkers tried to destroy Purgis in a special scenario we fought called Bringing Down the Beast. They had to kill him off while he was still only protected by his immediate mob of boyz, before the rest of the Orks and the forces of Chaos could link up with him.
Thanks to the actions of the Sould Drinker commander, Captain Romulus
Champion of HumanityThey were able to banish Waaagh! Purgis. But he resurfaced in the battle report that Cheminhaler linked after being resurrected by Lord Stagthruster the Unworthy.
In case you were interested in using him in a battle yourself, or playing the scenario Brining Down the Beast, I'll include the rules we wrote up.
Bringing Down the BeastFollowing the Orks acquisition of The Armchair of Questionable Fluids the nob that claimed the prize looted it and made it Orky. During which he was exposed to the most questionable of fluids which contained the a bound deamon of Nurgle!
Coveting the power to krump all the marines and replace Da Leman Steela he agreed to a contract with the deamon becoming a possessed Ork of the power and stature that could fast track the Orks on the planet into a Waaaagh across the sector. To make matters worse servants of Nurgle, the renegade Space Marines of The Syndrome who had been searching for The Armchair of Questionable Fluids are attempting to link up with the corrupted Orks.
