Wow. Great comparison pictures there with the superheavy. Thanks; that really helps to visualise it.
The two hunched, hooded crew look like brilliant sculpts.

Bloody hell, that was quick! Would have taken me ages to glue/reshape etc! Brilliant work, looking forward to seeing more progress.

on a serious note the robots are almost contemptor dread size, if you put a guardsman next to it, it would be a different story.

The robots don't have to be painted like the rest of the army, so it's a good excuse to do a differing paint scheme or two.

Well I think I've decided to go with the white metallica forge world scheme, two reasons, first is I like the white! And second is that metallica is based in the ultima segmentum which fits with my ultramarines lore wise due to their proximity to each other.

Right well this once been a little while since I gave an update....
Boring stuff out of the way,
I Undercoated the model with Halfords grey primer, then base coated with the new GW lead belcher in a can.
First up I started painting the sonic panels with a blue base as these will eventually be varying shades of blue, this took a fair bit of time to do accurately.
next up I started to paint the white areas on the hull and tracks (ongoing) in these images ive only applied two coats of white base but will defo need more. at this point I thought I should have shaded all the metel work first but rushing on I missed a step. I can go back and do it but it means going around with a fine brush shading rather than slapping nuln oil on with a mahoosive brush.
Next I started to add a red base as a secondary colour to a few smaller areas just to break it up a bit, when I paint my skitarii they will have red underneath their cloaks and white on the outside.
As you can see in the next one the white needs a few more coats, also im thinking of doing blue lenses across my mechanicum, what do you guys say?
Still havnt painted the front track sections but im getting there.
any comment or suggestions welcome!

Looking great so far! Have you thought about green lenses? I only say that so it wouldn't clash with your blue/red scheme.

Yeah green is the other option, just I usually do lense green and looking for a change, I may stick to greenin the end, will be one of the last things I paint so plenty of time to decide, oh God why did I choose metallica as my forgeworld, so much white to paint lol

Mechanicus Colour scheme WIP ok so this is the wip colour scheme on a selection of models for the mechanicum army im building. For those that don't follow mechanicum im interpreting the Forge world Metallica colour scheme of White with deep mars red as a secondary colour. just seen a couple of scruffy bits on the images which ill sort out, also the martian mud type stuff was not quite set on the bases in these photos. I may do a couple of the hoses on the tech priest in black as they seem to distract from the other details around the head. Im pretty happy with blue for the lenses and visors etc. The targeting lenses from the ordinatus I think have come out really well, just need to add some ard coat when im absolutely happy with the finish on the lenses. Please and comments or tips welcome, p.s not sure if you can see it in the pics but what do people think about leaving the rim of the bases silver?

I think there are enough dark metallic areas to break it up, not many large flat panels on the model, need to experiment with a bright silver highlight for the sharp edges though.
