Hi - I probably havent played a game since 6th edition, but my friend who plays Space Marines has asked me to play a game. Based on the minis that I have, we are going to play a 2k game. Soooo I'm looking for input from this list. Im not expecting to win but the main priority is to have a list that is fun to play and will at least be a bit competitive. This is what I am planning on using - it is 30 points over:
WARLORD Imperial Knight Paladin
HQ CCS (2 plasma, lascannon) in a chimera Minostorum Priest
TROOPS 10 vets (3 plasma) in a chimera 10 vets (3 plasma) in a chimera
PCS (3 plasma) in a chimera 2 platoons (grenade launcher and lascannon in each)
FAST Vendetta Vendetta
HEAVY 3x Leman Russ (standard) Wyvern
Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Doesn't look too bad at all. Space Marines are a bit stronger right now if they are using their formations, but that does force them to take a fairly all rounder sort of list. If you play Eternal War then it should feel quite a bit like 6th with some extra bells and whistles. If you play Maelstrom of War missions then keep your eye on doing the objectives because unless one of you is in danger of being tabled then points are scored in a failry dynamic way.

Thanks - would it be worth putting the CCS in one of the Vendettas to free up points?

I'd keep the CCS in a chimera so you can use the 'senior officer' orders to buff the squads from your platoon, and stick the PCS in one of the valks.
You could even leave their Chimera in the list and use it to capture objectives if you swap out the plasmaguns from the PCS for flamers; it seems like a bit of a waste to me to have 3 plasmaguns in reserve, as you won't be able to shoot them for the first two turns or so. And you can then either keep the cheap PCS in the vendetta in order to capture an objective on the last turn, or drop them next to some bunched up marines and hit them with 3 flamers.
You could also drop the chimera in favour of a cheap special weapons team with flamers: giving you two cheap troops that can deepstrike to either capture an objective, or put the hurt on some marines.
Claiming tactical objectives is an important part of 7th edition, so being able to drop a cheap squad out of a vendetta or have a chimera flat-out across the board to; capture an objective or score linebreaker can make a big difference.

Also, keep in mind that the LR battlecannons are less effective as anti-tank in this edition because you need to roll a 7 to explode a vehicle on a penetrating hit so they can't get a one shot kill off like a lascannon or meltagun can. They'll still be fine for whittling down a vehicle (and of course for splatting marines) but if you have a lot of marines in transports then it can be a pain getting them out of them in a timely fashion if you have to hit the rhino/whatever 3 times.
(Oh, and when they fire their battlecannon all their other weapons (you just have hull heavy bolters on them right?) will be snap firing.)
