Hello Everyone,
I figured I'd share the list I've been using/tweaking over the past few weeks. The idea of the Cadian battlegroup detachment really appeals to me, so I've been trying to make it work at lower points levels.
-HQ-Battlegroup Command-HQ- +CCS -Chimera w/ multi-laser, heavy flamer, dozerblade -Astropath -Officer of the fleet.
-Core-Emperor's Fist Armoured Company-Core- +Tank Commander in Vanquisher w/ hull Lascannon -Vanquisher w/ hull lascannon
+Leman Russ Executioner
+Leman Russ Battletank
+Leman Russ Exterminator w/ H-Bolter sponsons
+Techpriest -Trojan Towing Vehicle (FW)
-Aux-Emperor's Talon Recon Company-Aux- +Armoured Sentinel Squadron -3 sentinels w/ multi-laser
+Scout Sentinel Squadron -3 sentinels w/ multi-laser
-Aux-Militarum Tempestus Platoon- +Tempestus scions (5)
+Tempestus Scions (5) -2 melta guns
+Tempestus Scions (5) -2 melta guns
So far the list has been doing alright. But I might just go back to CAD, the benefits are really aimed at infantry.. but taking infantrt is made somewhat prohibitive (unless you want 150+)
The sentinels add a bit of mobility to the army to help score objectives. They all get to outflank if they want, and the command sentinel gets to order 'move move move' or 'forwards for the Emperor' to help cover some distance.
The scions deepstrike onto objectives or behind enemy armour, to grab objectives and be a pain in the behind. The CCS's 24" command range means that they can often get an order to help them do so.
The tanks do what tanks do.
Any advice/tips/points of improvement are greatly appreciated.

It looks solid though you may have some trouble with horde armies. All of your stuff is made to kill high toughness/good save/heavy armor which in most metas works well. Come up against orks/tyanids/horde guard and you will probably suffer.

Although a near endless ammount of nasties like that will give most lists trouble I think. I had an eradicator in there for the last version, but replaced it with the executioner. It mopped up a bunch of cultists and put a hullpoint on a rhino, but I figured an execution wouls hit roughly the same ammount of guys with 3 blasts, and do more vs vehicles. Swapping out the 'regular' Russ would be an option. As much as I love the battlecannon.. I might have to specialize the tanks a bit more.

Maybe switch out either the battle tank or the exterminator for a punisher?
Edit: Yay! Hundredth post!

Congrats I don't know... punishers have always struck my as underwhelming ever since I found out they need Pask behind the wheel to get rending. But I'll give it a try, they look cool: so that'll be reason enough to include one. And I might be pleasantly surprised, it'd be like a squad of firewarriors.. only av14

It's basically a 20 shot heavy bolter. And then you get the hull mounted heavy bolter and throw sponsons on that's another 9 shots. Yeah pask makes it much more appealing but that's still a lot of dakka on a solid platform.

The heavy bolter is sort of an underwhelming and situational weapon as is, though, so loading up on an equivalent sort of tries to overcome it's mediocrity by sheer mass.
Might I suggest a Hellhound instead if you're worried about hordes? It's not as tough but it can do an alarming amount of damage even without the hull heavy flamer factored in, and it's a template, so you're not relying on BS 3. If the stats on the cannon are still the same as what I remember, then the strength is a bit higher than a Punisher cannon and you can even worry vehicles with a good roll if they have an AV 10 or 11 facing somewhere.

RedsandRoyals: a Hellhound would do the trick, but it will put me in "unbound" territory. At the moment that would only cost me a re-roll for my warlord trait, so it isn't terrible.. but I'd prefer to avoid it none the less. I took a punisher out for a test drive during tonights game.. and it did.. alright. In its defense I found myself facing a Whitescar list that was mostly bikes.. but the str5 did help take out 2-3 bikers a turn. Bike lists are always going to be a problem for this army, but I managed to scrape together enough points for a minor loss (10-13). It would have been a win if my dice had gotten in line for the 4th turn, but alas. For now the Punisher is staying in: I'll probably play against Orks next week, so it'll be worth it's weight in gold there.
