Fay-Fay Lanxy took some tres dommage, left the Sol system, ended up at Cay-Cay, kicked some Blackstone Fortress ass, precipitated the disaster, and then limped away.

So reading the very first pages of the book, it seems this is a broad campaign that can cover a lot of Imperial vs Imperial conflicts as well as Orks vs Mechanicum.
Orks vs Mechanicum is Cawl escaping to reach Cadia from NowhereImportant7.
Imps vs Imps (anything from IG vs IG to SM vs Sisters, anything can happen) happens when Abaddon unleashes a magical wave of treachery on the defenders so the all turn on each other and turn the fortified Kasrs into charnel houses of mega-death.
So if you've ever fancied modelling recently turned traitor Ultramarines covered in blood and Cadian trophies, after making kebabs out of the Cadian 8th, now is a good time for those strange projects..

Chem I don't think any loyal space marines turned, just bog standard humans gone cultist.
really enjoyed this book. if there is a series and a triumverant to accompany each ill probably get the lot. alresdy asked my local supplier to reserve a copy of fracture of biel tan + elder triumverant. In the middle of painting Celestine and co now.

Ironically Abaddon dies in the WD battle report after killing himself with Drachny'en and in CC with Celestine. What is really weird is the little chart of extra game effects each player has to roll on in their turn which affects the other players turn too in some cases and so on in the following turn. The end of 7th edition just added on a whole lot of extra playing time to an already lengthy game. For example you could roll a result that all invulnerable saves are cancelled out because of the effects of the warp storm. Bad news for you refractor field wielding people as well as your hyper expensive storm shield dudes

Just put in a pre-order for Fracture of Biel-Tan and the Triumvirate of Ynnead. I grabbed the Triumvarite plus a pair of the DE Warrior/Raider boxes. I'm not keen to start a proper Eldar army of any kind unless plastic Aspect warrior kits drop, though.

Yeah, the Finecrap Aspects were awful. Seems like it would be fairly simple to bang kits out for Banshees, Scorpions, Hawks, Dragons, and Reapers...

Agreed. Aside from Sisters, obviously, it's the Eldar and (to a lesser extent) Chaos that really need the plastic infantry kit love. I think just about every other faction has serviceable plastics across the board.

About halfway through the fluff part of Gathering Storm II: Gather Harder.
Commorragh somehow manages to become an even less fun place to be, but apparently Vect now has a floating pyramid fortress, so it all evens out.

So, this is sort of a silly question, but you don't need to field the Triumvirs together as one unit (like how the DW kill teams work) if you take their formation, right? I've seen people mention that, but the rules don't actually state it anywhere, and the wording of the special rules imply they'll be fielded separately anyway. Plus, when you take any other formation, you don't weld them together as one big unit (though that would have the potential to be hilarious).
Thoughts?

I haven't really looked into the rules for celestine & co. but I'm pretty sure that unless the formation 'dataslate' mentions otherwise, the units that make up a formation keep their own rules and status as individual units.

That's the way I read it too but having heard no one else's opinion on the matter, I would not take my word for it.

That's the way it is; if the units are supposed to be fielded as one unit it would say so under the Formation description. But characters can still join each other in some kind of Death Star thing otherwise all those Thunderwolf multi-character packs would be illegal.
The only example I can think of right now is the Dark Angel codex which has an auxiliary formation consisting of a Tech-marine + any type of Land Raider + a full squadron of 3 either Predators/ Vindicators/ Whirlwinds that form up into one super vehicular DeathStar and it says you can't break them up during the game they all have to stay together. This is in stark contrast to the normal SM codex aux formation 'Armoured Task Force' where the vehicles (3 squadrons of Predators/ Vindicators/ Whirlwinds) and the Tech-marine stay as their own squadrons or single units. The DA one you have to take 3, the vanilla one you choose how many tanks are in each squadron. To me the DA one looks like overkill and it looks to unwieldy on paper for small - medium games as all those tanks have to shoot at the same target except the PoTMS from the Land Raider.

There is a ravenwing one too iirc: a darkshroud and a speeder squadron that get treated as one unit.
And farsight's "the eight" have the option of being fielded as a single unit, (to allow the MC character to be joined) but individual models can peel off and rejoin as they please.
