"ndeed, nothing on the bloody battlefields of Warhammer’s conflict-ravaged universe could match the terrible reality that foxes, minks, rabbits, and other living beings experience at the hands of the fur trade. Those killed for their fur typically first endure a bleak life inside a tiny, filthy wire cage before being electrocuted, drowned, or even skinned alive. "
If nothing says grim dark more than wearing fur then GW would be fools to stop the use of fur in their setting. In fact they should have more and maybe remind PETA that even more unethical treatments of animals happen in their dystopian setting. 40k is supposed to be a future you don't want to happen.

I don't know why they're so upset. After all, there are no wolves on Fenris, so those aren't wolf pelts, and all the fur from the Heresy-era minis is made from the hair the barber sweeps up after trimming and styling Fulgrim's majestic mane.

Maybe they should let the PETA's loyal followers duke it out with disgruntled Space Wolf fans in a Fight Club environment. Only the Wolf fans have to wear mink coats and the PETA fans have to wear lycra yoga pants.

PETA have achieved a couple of things here:
1) got themselves publicity 2) got fur trade back in conversation
however; they've also made themselves look like a complete bunch of muppets (made from synthetic material).
I'm sure there were some amusing discussions at GW, "so, we make models out of plastic, which isn't made of animals, and these models are set in a reality in which humans are chained to a god who devours their souls at death - often right after being shot in the head by their political officer, or sacrificed by a religious techno-cult, in which daemons are real and aliens specialise in torture, countless worlds burning and polluted by weapons of war, horrific terrors unleashed so powerful that they fragament the essence of time and space itself, somewhere in this universe there must be an opening for an organisation to speak up for the poor beasts who are being exploited as fashion accessories, a voice that can transcend all the inter-species conflict and say: "no! fur is bad, the trophy pelts you wear are encouraging harm to poor defencless animals, look beyond the infinite tragedy of your existence and reach out with empathy for the sake of the poor creatures who will endure pain and suffering for the sake of vanity"...
in the echoing silence that follows two words rebound over and over "pain, suffering, pain, suffering, pain, suffering..."
yeah, I can see that happening. In fact I might need to make a special piece of terrain just to demonstrate it.

PETA have achieved a couple of things here: 1) got themselves publicity 2) got fur trade back in conversation A bunch of people who read this decided that this isn't a really serious issue and will ignore other more reasonable parts of the conversation and bring this up in the middle of things that are sort of related to this. 3) A bunch of people who read this decided to eat some extra meat because they think it is delicious and can use the article as an excuse to get the tasties regardless of their feelings on world food management and their personal health. Plastic isn't made of animals?
