For the past couple of Days, I've been diving back into painting with a bit of an EBay binge.. Laying around I had the Dark Vengeance chaos Lord and Helbrute, and having also picked up 23 Khorne Bezerkers, 2 Rhinos a squad of Warp Talons and a unit of Bloodletters, I've decided to start working on a Daemonkin force rather than other Csm dexes. I've been practising my edge highlighting techniques on the power armour, hoping it will be somewhat refined when I come around to my Crimson Fists.. (don't want them to look bad next to the ones Emptyhat made for me..)
With 1 Warp talon done, another well on the way, and the other 3 primed, I'm hoping to have some pictures of my vastly improved painting up over the weekend. Cheers for taking a peek chaps!
See you all back here soon Hopefully! Dave

Bit later in the weekend than anticipated.. But finally.. First up, my Warp Talon Champion. I'm still getting used to edge highlighting and moving beyond tabletop standard. And my Chaos Lord... I think I did a better job of it here. and finally... A bit of 'Brute' force.. Still Wip atm, but, I've done more work since the photo was taken. I was hoping to have more done, but, alas... I cannot bend the bonds of time Dave

I feel like not calling this thread "Demonic Dave's Forces of Evil Tour 2017" is a missed opportunity, somehow. They're looking good so far, though. How are you finding the assembly? I stabbed my fingers something terrible back when I assembled those warp talon kits.

I'm finding the kits, so far quite beautiful. The excess parts on the sprue look like they could be a god send. Up to now, the Warp Talons are the only kit I've assembled, all the others have been second hand from eBay. Hobby on the cheap! Also.. Hang in reds... I got this.. Dave Changed for effect... Also... About the Warp Talons kit, I do have one gripe... THOSE BLOODY WINGS ON THE BACK OF THE JUMP PACK!! They are absolutely ridiculous, and have no reason to exist what so ever... I am planning on removing them.

Those are some good looking heretics! In most cases I personally find it easier to touch up my hamfisted highlights by painting a line of the basecoat 'underneath'. Especially with jumppack models there are a lot of awkward angles that make highlighting a pain in the behind.

Thanks for the advice Nutty! I do have a second warp talon probably about 70% done, the edge highlighting is much neater on him, as I'm really struggling to get my head around it. But for now, I'm enjoying the delights of Bloodletters... It's the first time I've ever owned any, and I've found a fairly quick and good looking way to paint them, from a youtuber called The Apathetic Fish. I watch a lot of his stuff, I rate him pretty highly. Got as far as basecoat and Wash on one last night, I'm hoping to get the others done to the same step, production line style, before I go to work today

I always thought they looked super weird too. But then my dog got a hold of one of my raptors jump packs and chewed it to bits so I had to get creative ...
